To discern this from the materialistic “Golden Rule” - which is “The one with the gold, makes the rules.” No, not that Golden Rule, but rather the Golden Rule that -as I see it - sets a moral foundation that’s indispensable for any semblance of lasting peace in the world - with a fifth principle to glue the four together. <br /><br />These variations on the (ethical) Golden Rule are resonated in all major religions as well as the “irreligion” of rationality. The four variations go along the lines of two different considerations - do and don’t do - considering self and others. So here they are:<br /><br />(Do / Considering the Self: The pro-active principle)<br />“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”<br /><br />(Do Not / Considering the Self: The “Do no harm” principle)<br />“Do not do unto others as you would not have them do unto you.”<br /><br />(Do / Considering the Other: The “being of service” principle)<br />“Do unto others as they would have you do unto them.”<br /><br />(Do Not / Considering the Other: The “respect for others” principle)<br />“Do not do unto others what they would not have you do unto them.”<br /><br />(Fifth principle - draft...)<br />“Know, love, and respect your true self, follow the fourfold Golden Rules with balance, with a heart of good will towards all.”<br /><br />Feel free to discuss and adapt the above as you see fit.<br /><br /><br />B",
