"content": "A sobering thought
-----
We live in a world where people lie with a smile. They kill knowing that death is better than living with demons.
Yesterday night I bought some champagne because I could. I drank it and watched some movie I don't remember the name of this morning.
Then I woke up at 6 AM, wondering if this is what death felt like. Like an indescribable nothingness. Neither peaceful nor demented. It just is. I didn't feel any sort of sadness, just curiosity. I left it. No sense trying to reflect light onto the blacktop.
One time I went to a dance club with some friends. It was dark yet lit with purple hues and pink flashing lights. I wanted to dance.
But my friends had things to do before they could join me on the dance floor. So I went on ahead without them.
The songs were sub-par, but I enjoyed dancing to them. I occasionally had to push people away from me as they encroached on my personal bubble. Kind of a weird thing for me to do at a nightclub. At one point a couple of guys approached me; they danced around me as I danced. As one of them went to grab my waist, I pushed him away and coyly said: \"you can look, but never touch.\" He turned back to talk to his friends and then turned back to me and asked where my friends were. I answered that they were around somewhere, just not dancing... with me.
Somehow we began to discuss sports, family, life, and even some philosophy. This was surprising, I thought, but interesting. Was there some substance here, just maybe?
His friends approached him again and told him, let's go get some more drinks. He smiled at them and turned back to me and said, I'll be back, we're gonna go look for your friends!! We're gonna find them for you!
I smiled at him. I was sober. He was just another goblin.
I turned back around disgusted at the lack of effort he put into his lie. I danced with the zombies around me. No sense in grieving over the dead, anymore.
I may be right, but they're happy.
I stepped on someone's foot, and I turned to apologize. He said, \"Oh, no, that's okay, really. "content": "A sobering thought\n-----\nWe live in a world where people lie with a smile. They kill knowing that death is better than living with demons.\nYesterday night I bought some champagne because I could. I drank it and watched some movie I don't remember the name of this morning.\nThen I woke up at 6 AM, wondering if this is what death felt like. Like an indescribable nothingness. Neither peaceful nor demented. It just is. I didn't feel any sort of sadness, just curiosity. I left it. No sense trying to reflect light onto the blacktop.\nOne time I went to a dance club with some friends. It was dark yet lit with purple hues and pink flashing lights. I wanted to dance.\nBut my friends had things to do before they could join me on the dance floor. So I went on ahead without them.\nThe songs were sub-par, but I enjoyed dancing to them. I answered that they were around somewhere, just not dancing... with me.\nSomehow we began to discuss sports, family, life, and even some philosophy. This was surprising, I thought, but interesting. Was there some substance here, just maybe?\nHis friends approached him again and told him, let's go get some more drinks. He smiled at them and turned back to me and said, I'll be back, we're gonna go look for your friends!! We're gonna find them for you!\nI smiled at him. I was sober. He was just another goblin.\nI turned back around disgusted at the lack of effort he put into his lie. I danced with the zombies around me.
