"content": "A modern Star Trek show could be so amazing. Imagine arcs where they delve into ubiquitous surveillance states (coincidentally explaining why they don't seem to have that in Trek), the dangers of social media (giving a chance to explain why Trek rightfully doesn't seem to have it), further expounding on the threat of collectivism via well-thought-out Borg stories, et cetera, et cetera . . . the timeless questions, the modern problems, and some good ole useless thought experiments, just like the original in its day. <br /><br />This is why OG Trek fans were impressed by The Orville, at times. It was often silly, but managed to actually be better at being *Star Trek*, a vehicle for exploring ideas and the human condition against a space exploration backdrop, than the low-brow Star-Trek-brand entertainment product currently out there. At best, the current CBS fluff is MacGuffin-laden emo Star Wars for people who know the word 'science' and consider themselves fans of it while knowing nothing about it.<br /><br />How utterly dull. ",

I was rummaging through an old box and found the old F-Toys USS Defiant kit from DS9, which has emblazoned on its display stand the scale \"1/2500\". I realized that many other Trek models are in 1/2500 and I started to weaken to the idea of gathering some, but fortunately I decided to make sure the Defiant was right. <br /><br />Alas, it isn't. They used the incorrect 170m length. At the proper 120m, the F-Toys version is 1/1764, which does at least happen to be accidentally awesome since NCC-1764 the registry of the TOS and ENT Constitution Class USS Defiant.
