Part 1 <a href=\"https://www.minds.com/search?f=top&amp;t=all&amp;q=philosophy\" title=\"#philosophy\" class=\"u-url hashtag\" target=\"_blank\">#philosophy</a><br /><br /> When we start a discussion about philosophy, it's essential to lay down some groundwork. If we accept that the start of thinking clearly is to question everything, then the most logical thing to question first is reality itself. However, to answer what reality is, we must understand a couple things. <br /><br /> First, who are we to question anything? Are we simply a conglomeration of atoms running out a certain pattern? Complicated to be sure, but a pattern nonetheless. Are we simply a consciousness plugged into some form of virtual reality, or hallucination? Are we sovereign entities capable of thought and with agency? <br /><br /> How we answer these questions shapes a great deal of how we perceive and interact with the world. If we think we're just a by product of math, then why worry about any choices we make? Why even question anything in the first place? If everything we perceive is a dream, or a simulation, then why can't we make our wishes and fantasies reality? <br /><br /> In the end, we understand reality and behave as we do in it for one reason. We are sovereign entities with thought and agency. If we weren't, we would have no reason, or even the ability, to question or debate our existence. With this established, we can move on to a further discussion of reality itself. <br /><br /><br /> This is just a small thought I've had for today. I hope everyone enjoyed reading it.
