"content": "Independent alternative media officially is a player in the world of global media. Recent success stories have arisen in the past decade, mostly from the US, but also from Asia, Europe and Africa.<br /> The current established mass media companies probably view this as competition, and understandably so. It should not, however view it as a major hindrance as it in fact can serve to stimulate the market in general. Major media players should remember they will not lose all market shares and control. Just like in the restaurant industry and other sectors: there are restaurant chains and high end independent restaurants, then there are many different types of smaller local restaurants. All cater to different clientele. <br /> Competition always goes on, and these different clienteles fluctuate as marketing and trends evolve. However, having an abstract business activity outside of establishment circles can in fact help strengthen the overall fluidity and stability of the market, be it in media or otherwise. <br /> In other words, support your local independent media. This is something established and understood in other fields such as literature or animated cinema, but in general media, it has yet to be reminded.<br /><br /> We can think of independent media's recent success stories:<br /><br />Pewdie pie<br />Joe Rogan<br />Tucker Carlson<br />X (although X is not exactly independent as part of larger interests but under the same umbrella. Minds is in fact more of an independent open source social media)<br />Mr Beast<br />Timcast IRL<br />Telegram<br /><br /> The problem unfortunately, for some independent media sources is that they naturally converge to exclusively news or overly political content. In order for independent media to become legacy independent media, it must have a rich and varied content, ideally creating something with a new angle and finding their niche.<br /><br /> This is what, at one point in history, many of today's staple media once were.
