Yes, sometimes being awake is a curse and not always a blessing.<br /><br />Awakening is the most liberating, alienating, agonising, empowering, lonely, confusing, liberating, scary, far-reaching journey of all.<br /><br />If you're struggling to process all this madness, know that you're not alone in this!<br /><br />No one talks about the darkness that accompanies awakening, or the grief that comes with it. You grieve not only for the life and illusions you once had, but also for the realisation that almost everything you once thought you knew is a LIE.<br /><br />The beliefs you held on to, the people you learned to trust, the principles you were taught - ALL LIES.<br /><br />The shattering of illusions is rarely a pleasant experience. There is a considerable amount of discomfort that comes with growth and the grieving process does not stop there. With these newfound realisations, one then grieves all over again.<br /><br />One mourns the loss of many relationships with people who simply do not want to and cannot \"see\" it.<br /><br />One feels alone, ridiculed and shamed, not only by the masses, but for many of us also by our own family and friends. You feel like you no longer have much in common with the people around you.<br /><br />It is hard to have useless and superficial conversations that lack substance with those who are still in deep sleep.<br /><br />Some even mourn the loss of their ignorance - because \"ignorance is bliss\" and reality is harsh.<br /><br />Awakening can be a lonely road, and you will often find that you are travelling alone.<br /><br />There is no way to sugarcoat it - awakening to the reality of this world is brutal. You will go through the whole range of human emotions.<br /><br />You have to master the art of diving down the darkest rabbit hole, processing information only to come back out and get on with daily life - a skill that is not talked about often enough.<br /><br />Some of us struggle with feeling disconnected from our family and friends, as if we live in another world.<br /><br />If you recognise yourself please know that you are not alone! Not only are you not alone, there are actually a lot of us. We may be separated by distance, but we are deeply connected.",
