"content": "Punalu’u Black Sand Beach Hawaii<br />Punaluʻu is made from basalt sand formed from the rapid cooling of basaltic lava hitting the ocean water then shattering into tiny fragments. The lava continues to be broken down and the waves push the glassy sand back to shore forming a beach. There’s something thrilling about driving the coastal road and spotting the horses. <br /><br />The water is unpredictable. It can be windy with rough waves. So you might want to check first. <br /><br />There’s a nice visitor center with museum. The short historical film gives you a great reference to understand what a miraculous place this is. Assateague is connected to Chincoteague and there’s a certain time when the horses move from one to the other.",
