"content": "REFLECTION ON 4th OF JULY<br /><br />I don't remember much of my first 4th in America. My mom shared about her first Fourth of July in America and when she heard the fireworks and firecrackers, her first reaction was get all the kids to go underneath the bed for cover. My mom said our house in Vietnam was very close to the airport so she could hear a lot of explosions at night. In 1975, there were three of us, my older brother, older sister and me. My mom was 5 month pregnant with my brother and my dad was often away from home on \"business trip.\" That was my mom told the neighbors when my dad went on one of his missions. They always thought he was a businessman. She was left at home alone to take care of the children. <br /><br />I was born in a war torn country but I was fortunate that I have never seen or experienced the war. When we came to America, my parents decided not to fill our heads with the past and I didn't know anything about the Vietnam war. When someone said America had abandoned VN, I got really angry. I was thinking you couldn't even fight for your own country so don't blame on us until I learned more about the VN war. Thank you all the soldiers who sacraficed. You have fought a good fight.<br /><br />I grew up being a proud American. I am proud to be an American because of the constitution of the United States, Bill of Rights and Declaration of Independence. These guarantee me the right of freedom of speech, religion, the press, and the right to vote. I can express my opinion on various subjects without the worry of being prosecuted or persecuted. The freedom I take for granted every day that I wake up. I am specially proud of our flag<br /><br />\"And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,<br />Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there;<br />O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave<br />O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave\"<br /><br />Thank you America for making me and family feel safe to live here and even now is the most crazy time in American history, I still feel safe. Thank you for the men and women who sacrificed their lives for my freedom. ",
