I did policy debate in high school (2003-2006) and I viewed it as the most valuable academic and intellectually profitable endeavor I was ever exposed to. If the opposing squad in this round actually just read slam poetry for their 1AC, that's akin to agreeing to a game of football with another school, that school showing up and fielding a soccer a team, they kick a soccer ball into your touchdown zone and declare themselves the winner... and then the referee agrees with this farce and gives them a win!

The opposing team fundamentally did not engage in the parameters of debate. You can't really have a debate about the policy implications of slam poetry, for obvious reasons.
