The room had been used since the foundation of the academy to focus the magical energies of the world and concentrate them like a sauna he could feel the almost heavy quality to the air like a hot humid day.

Looking down on the parchment that Captain Takeda gave him that listed all the names of the children... this won't due...there are much to many of them I need to narrow down the field. Thought Grandmaster Zhou as his time was quite valuable and he was the only tester today.

\"Alright! I will call you up by tens and you will attempt to do as we ask you to if you pass a glowing light will be shined down on you and you will go to the doors to the right if you do not go to the left and meet back with Captain Takeda\" is that understood Grandmaster Zhou said sternly he looked at the large group of children before him. Even if there were a lot of them he sincerely loved meeting the new children of the academy.

“Yes sir!” they all cried out at once in agreement. He called the first group up which consisted of the oldest of the children that could be admitted into the academy they often were not useful starting in the academy at a later age was not recommended and only allowed when it was decent talent. The sooner they could indoctrinate and infiltrate their daily lives with the loyalty to the Imperial pantheon and Imperial family the better for the Sato Empire.

\"Alright I want each of you to put your hands out and act like you are cupping a ball between both your hands\" he watched them all do as he was told and continued with the explanation \"Now. Focus all your will and energy on forming a ball of light between your hands\" it was at that moment that looks of confusion sprouted upon the numerous students as they looked around trying to see if the others understood what to do, meanwhile others were sweating profusely trying to do as they were told. Being intentionally obtuse was part of the test if these students couldn’t grasp basic concepts of Ki without an in-depth explanation they didn’t have a natural affinity for magic.

Grandmaster Zhou looked down at them frowning slightly. Not one could even do the first part of the test properly he sighed taking in the disappointment. \"None of you passed please exit and the next ten come up.\" A look of dismay came across some of the students while others looks relieved not all are meant to be Ki users.

The test was a testing for three things. First that they could conceptualize something that wasn't there, but simply a concept or idea in their heads, the second was if they understood the idea of letting their spiritual energy flow thru their bodies, and the final test was to see if they could actually conjure some of their spiritual energy before them...that was when the true test began. Because simply having Ki wasn’t enough to gain entrance into the academy. They needed to to exceptional. A person who could use a low level of Ki would excel with a mixture of martial arts training and Ki training as it could supplement the weaknesses in martial training, but low level Ki users rarely were blessed by deities and if they were they were incredibly minor gods or goddesses who had no business in this academy next to the Imperial Pantheon. The Imperial Pantheon was the primary gods that were commonly worshiped or recognized wide spread in the Sato Empire. Though there were untold numbers of deities many did not have a single follower. Though it wasn’t uncommon for those outside the pantheon to get into the school it simply was preferable for the students to be acknowledged by the deities of the Empire as it was much easier to train and teach students in gods that they already knew about.

Group after group came up before the grandmaster and none were passing several could pass the first test which meant they may one day understand, but they simply lacked the minimum level of talent to be excepted by the most prestigious school in the empire. If they could do the first two steps then they were a mediocre talent and would become an outer disciple. If they could do all three they were considered an average talent. What made one stand out from the rest was how strong the ball of light was when they conjured it from their spiritual energy. Someone who couldn't get to step three would have to work significantly harder to keep up with someone that had talent. Those who couldn't even pass step one had little hope of ever keeping with them therefore would not be accepted into the academy.

After the last and youngest group were up. Grandmaster Zhou's eyes skimmed over the last batch at his point he had little faith that any of these youngsters would pass. His eyes fell heavily on the last young girl furthest to the right of him. At that moment a brief moment of shock flashed across his face that went away as fast as it came. This girl was extremely interesting he thought as looked at her. Those eyes were truly haunting he had never see such piercing blue eyes in his life. Though blue eyes were considered cursed never has a parent or someone with those colored eyes come into the academy. This would be most interesting he thought with a glimmer flashing in his eyes.

\"Proceed!\" he commanded the children to do as the others did. He kept his eyes on the girl without letting any of the others see he was paying attention particularly on the blue eyed girl.

The girl held out her hands her arms at her side were at a ninety degree angle and her hands held out in front of her as if she were delicately holding a fragile ball in her hands a moment of surprise flashed onto his face again as he looked at the very interesting girl. She was able to perfectly conceptualize that she really was holding a ball something that wouldn't take much effort ought to look natural not any muscles straining to hold it like all the other students did \"good\" he muttered to himself... \"next!\" he spoke out more loudly urging them onto the next step. As they all moved onto trying to tap their spiritual energy Zhou felt absolutely zero spiritual energy from the entire group all save the blue eyed girl who he could feel a modest amount of Ki flowing thru her it was nothing to go shouting down the streets over, but her Ki was slightly different feeling. At the last step a small light formed between her hands a look of joy sprouted across his face. 'We finally have one' he thought slightly relieved even if the talent wasn't extraordinary it was good that they caught her at a young age that would help her immensely in the future. Talent was only a small equation… hard work would matter all the more.

\"GOOD!\" he cried out \"everyone but the young girl to the far right may leave. Young one you are going to exit out the opposite way I will be over there in a moment along with the other masters... be mindful when speaking in the other masters presence, understood?\"

The young girl nodded before silently leaving towards the next room. She’s a quiet one… good I enjoy someone who knows when to speak and when to listen.

Grandmaster Zhou turned to leave as well a small smile on his face. It truly was rare to get a new disciple before the annual test happened there would be high expectations for her, plus with her eyes he doubted that even in a place for the unique and gifted she wouldn't stick out. Hopefully.

...

Fort Edo was bustling with activity as the new conscripts had been training for several days and since they were all almost exclusively hunters they were put into a ranger battalion of roughly 300 archers. This was a good thing because they would be more detached from direct fighting, or at least that is what Kijuro thought when he first was put in charge of a small portion of the battalion which consisted of 50 of the men mostly from his town. He was quite surprised to be given a commanding position among the conscripts, but took the title without question. This way he could more readily guard them for the battles to come. It wasn't until they gave him this position that they said our battalion was forward deploying battalion that were put in charge of ambushes and scouting enemy positions making it one of the highest mortality rates of all the empires armies besides that of front line meat shields also known as conscripts. Those words caused Kijuro quite a lot of anxiety over the last couple days.

Kijuro felt a heavy burden as he spoke to his unit \"you all know that our first mission in a couple days is going to be a real test as we have little experience with warfare\" the previously hardened hunters all knew that it was a daily struggle to survive when hunting dangerous beasts in the Great Northern forest, but fighting another who was just as intelligent and bent on survival as they were was not the same their eyes for many of them showed fear something Kijuro didn't know what to do about, because... he was terrified as well.

In three days’ time his fellow men and himself were going into enemy territory to scout and destroy their supplies that were being shipped towards the enemies frontlines and this was something that most would consider a suicide mission, but Kijuro knew that no matter what happened he would survive to see his wife and daughter again.

Nyoko... Rize... wait patiently your Kijuro will be back he thought to himself as his men let loose another round of arrows at targets.

...

In the next room Minako Rize stood silently waiting for the masters to show up. Though from the outside it looked like Rize was calm in her head she was still in a daze, never in a thousand lifetimes did she think she would have the opportunity or the talent to be accepted into the most famous academy in all of the empire, but what really excited her was the look her father would have when he came home. It really was too much for her young mind to take in fully yet.

As she waited she thought about the moment the energy flowed through her body. She had never felt a more elating feeling in her life. It made her feel strong and secure something that she never really felt even in the warmth and protection of her parents. The pure raw power was almost addicting to the young girl.

\"Minako Rize!\" a thunderous voice came from above where the masters all stood on their own individual pavilions she looked up at them with determination.

\"You have shown enough aptitude to be accepted as an outer disciple of the academy. As such you will not have a formal master until you reach the point when your spiritual energy awakens to its innate nature. Until then you will live and study in the academy along with doing upkeep and learning the martial arts. The other masters have all agreed to this result as I have informed them of your ability.\" Grandmaster Zhao spoke with a thunderous voice on a totally different level than he spoke with before.

There was a long pause as the Grandmaster finished his sentence Rize still didn't know what to say at this point \"Is there anything you would like to ask?\" one of the other masters asked who was a young beautiful woman who couldn't be older than 19 years old. Her voice was soft and gentle and she was more beautiful than anyone she had ever encountered before in her life even her mother who many considered a great beauty couldn't hold a candle to this women her frame was slender and delicate with fair skin and deep well like eyes that accented her foxlike face. This truly shocked Rize as she never thought that someone would be able to achieve such skill at such a young age to be considered a master, then again she never heard of spiritual energy or any of the things that people were referring to before so who was she to make a judgement. Though the other masters were significantly older than her as far as she could tell. It was still a shock that a ball of light came out of her body so deep down Rize had not yet comprehended it fully as of yet so she choose to except it.

At that moment she did think of one question \"I do have one question\" she paused as the master smiled lightly \"will I get to see my family again?\"

The women nodded \"yes disciples are allow to see their family once a year during the lunar New Year festivals. Besides that they are allowed to write to their loved ones.\"

Rize's heart dropped like a boulder that rolled off a cliff. She wouldn't get to see her family, but one time a year?!? How could she do this? Seeing her mother, but once a year and only writing to her was earth shaking revelation.

\"Child I know what you are thinking. Each and every other student goes thru thoughts like this at this moment, know this once you graduate this academy you will be able to freely come and go as you please, your family has an entire lifetime to see you, this opportunity is only now.\"

The words sounded similar to that of her father's words and at that moment she nodded accepting that life was full of challenges “thank you for your words of wisdom master\" she bowed respectfully to the young female master.

\"Good we will send a letter to your guardian informing them of your choice\" the women smiled one last time before they told her to go meet the person who would escort her to the living quarters for outer disciples.

Rize looked towards the exit one last time before moving forward her tiny frame standing stoically in the giant room. Maybe here…just maybe she won’t be rejected because of who she is.

…

Six years later

\"Rize... Rize wake up.\"

Rize opened her eyes slowly taking in her surroundings giant trees towered all around her their roots warping the forest floor into an uneven and unnatural look. Birds fluttered around in the patches of sun light that filtered thru the canopy. Her hair was sprawled out around her as she propped herself onto her elbows. Where am I? She thought to herself. With blurred vision a figure stood in her vision with a hand stretched out to her. The body blocked out the sun momentarily obscuring her view further.

\"Rize come to me!\" the deep gentle voice was so familiar to her... how long was it since she last heard it? She couldn’t even remember the last time that voice entered her ears.

Rize's vision cleared and before her stood her father they were in the middle of the great trees of the Northern forest wearing his cloak he always wore on their hunting trips.

Smiling Rize jumped up from where she was laying.

\"Papa? You are back from the frontlines?! Is the war over?\" Rize said excitedly.

\"War? What war?\" his face gave away to confusion as he pulled back his hand.

Rize paused \"Yo-you don't remember?\" she said paused.

As she said those words she realized she didn't remember how she got here, but how was that possible? She wasn’t crazy he

\"Rize... I'm sorry for not making it back to you\" as her father spoke those words Rize stared in horror as an arrow was shot from out of view impaling itself into her father's skull sending shards of brain, blood, and skull bits from him. Crumpling to the ground hitting it with a sickening thud his blood sprayed onto her face making her not able to utter a word. The moment had passed so quickly she couldn’t process what had just happened.

After a few moments passed by her vision narrowed as if she was pulled into a long tunnel her soul seemed to be having a floating out of body experience as she watched her father die before her eyes. As if being pulled away from the horrific scene she reached out as she was pulled into a tunnel of pure darkness.

\"FATHER!\" Rize let out a silent scream as she tried to yell out to no avail... only silence... “Come…to me…child.” A whisper could be heard before everything when black.

Silence was all that could be heard…no it was more than silence it was a complete lack of sound…the world was silent and black.

Rize's eyes shot open as she found herself laying in her bedchamber she was breathing heavily as she had the same nightmare every time she dreamed, but a different way her father died each time.

Perhaps it was her imagination running wild, but ever since her masters told her that her father died in combat five years ago she had not had a peaceful night of sleep since. She stared at the ceiling a single tear rolled down her smooth cheek.

'Curse him... he promised' bitterly she found the willpower to pull herself up from her bed and looked into the mirror right across from herself. In the reflection was a small athletic girl with piercing blue eyes and long, black, messy hair. \"aww\" she let out a mildly disappointed sigh before running her slender fingers thru her hair to comb it in place.

She quickly put on her disciple's robes and left her room. The academy was enormous it had been six years since she was first entered in as an outer disciple her robes were all white with the golden phoenix of the empire on its back. The outer disciples her outer disciple robe was silver while the inner disciples were allowed to where a variety of outfits depending on the deity they followed or the master who took them in. The academy was busy this time of year as it was getting close to the annual showcase where the military leaders, scholars, nobles, and even some of the royalty would come to the academy to see the disciples show them how far the school has brought them along. Many minor nobles hoped their son or daughter would impress a high ranking noble or even one of the royal family’s princes or princesses so they could be married into the royal family something most would never be able to dream of doing. The Empire was partly meritocracy as the strong and talented could rise from their lowly places and reach levels fairly high, but even commoners found that reaching the royal family was a sliver of a dream.

Rize never realize how hierarchal society was until she came to the academy in fact the entire empire was built on a strict hierarchy that could not be broken so easily. Because of this even though her talent was decent and she was one of the hardest workers of the outer disciples she was still considered the lowest of the low due to her poor background and her cursed blue eyes. Even though many would call her a top beauty at the school no one would come near her due to this fact. She was the outcast of the outcast. Not even disciples from similar backgrounds would associate with her.

Ultimately however Rize didn't mind it, she was better off alone anyways. How could she ever trust any of them to have her back? If they won't even look past the superficial? Rize walked down the main path most of the students parting ways around her not wanting to be even thought of associating with her. The white stone paths of the academy were polished from the constant wear of students and masters walking along it and had a slight blackish glean to them.

\"Hey! Look who it is guys!\" a familiarly vile voice came from ahead of her. Looking up she already knew who the voice belonged to. Masaru Hyudo the biggest jerk of the outer disciples and his posse of moronic henchmen.

\"What do you want Masaru?\" Rize said slightly annoyed these were the only guys who gave her a majorly rough time for her eyes the rest simply left her alone or just talked behind her back \"just leave me alone.\"

\"AHH! Minako you are so cute, but why are you always so stand offish we just want to hang out with our good friend Minako Rize\" he said mockingly his posse snickering in the background.

\"Don't use my first name. We aren't that close Masaru...\" she growled when she heard him speak her first name.

Masaru's eyes narrowed slightly as he glared at Rize \"really now...who are you a daughter of a poor waitress and a lowly pathetic hunter tell me or anyone here at this academy what to do? HUH?\"

Pausing for a second an evil look flashed onto his face “oh wait…isn’t that right your father died pathetically in battle. I heard they never found his body…maybe he ran away like a coward. I mean your parents didn’t have the bravery to abandon a cursed child like you in the first place. How much honor could he possibly have?” his entire group along with a few onlookers snickered at the sharp words.

Rize felt a surge of blood begin to boil in her veins as she lost control. Without a seconds hesitation shot forward with speed of a girl who had been training martial arts and Ki for six years now. Rize didn't know what she wanted to do, but she knew she wanted to make him hurt for what she said about her bastard lying father. Only she was allowed to insult him not some pathetic punk like Masaru. As she quickly closed the distance between her and Masaru. Not even flinching he stood up straight and sent out his fist at her colliding with her forehead sending her flying back several feet don't a backwards somersault in the air Rize sprung off her hands and landed on her feet again.

\"Rize, you are pathetic you think that cause you train more than anyone you can overcome pure talent? Right now you can hold your own, but as soon as our spiritual innate natures are revealed the gap between trash like you and people from noble bloodlines like me will widen and you will have to keep your temper in check.\" Masaru berated Rize before turning around \"Let's leave this pathetic wastrel.\"

Rize hated all these morons...they were all idiots. Getting up she left and went to the library where she wanted to study more about innate natures it was her only hope in leveling out the playing field is if she could figure out a way to discover some deity who was compatible with her innate nature of her personality and Ki.

...

There was only one person she respected in the outer disciple core and that was the librarian who helped her study since she was young. His name was Tomo and he never had the talent to reach the rank of master, but found his talent good enough to keep track and tend to the ancient tomes and scrolls of the academy.

The man was in his mid-thirties with brown hair and small reading glasses always on his face and half his face was almost always shoved into a tome or scroll whenever she saw him. Rize had an appreciation well up inside her. Rize had much to be thankful towards Tomo.

Looking up from the current tome he was reading he smiled towards the small girl that was marching towards him. His face wasn’t particularly handsome, but wasn’t ugly either. It had always surprised her that Tomo had never gone and found himself a wife.

\"Why hel---waaawwwh\" he let out a gasp as Rize grabbed him by the back of his collar dragging him towards the second floor of the library. Her tiny frame was significantly shorter than Tomo, but she still managed to reach up and drag the middle aged man around.

Stopping in front of the locked stair case she looked at Tomo with a look of pure seriousness \"Tomo...let me into the second floor.\"

The words fell out of her mouth so quickly it took Tomo about five seconds before he busted out laughing.

\"BAHAHAHA!\"

Rize's frown only deepened as she waited for Tomo to be done. After about a minute he regained his composure.

Taking a deep breath he looked at her seriously \"Rize that is for inner disciples only I can't possibly...\" he paused looking at her deadpanned face.

\"Tomo... I am serious.\"

\"Eh?\" he paused. “Rize. Your Ki is not strong enough to go up there the dense amount of Ki was made to stop people like outer disciple from going in…” he paused as he looked at Rize who had not flinched at a single word he made “fine…follow me.”

Ki was something that took many different forms it was what connected humanity to the heavens, furthermore it is what individual gods would use to differentiate their followers from other gods. The gods communed with the world regularly since the dawn of humanity even allowing the most powerful of humans to join them in the heavens. Often however gods were disinterested in their followers except the most talented and impressive of their disciples. If one had enough Ki and trained enough would undergo a change in their Ki, being chosen by a god who would affect the nature of their Ki. Most commonly happening between the ages of twelve and fourteen during puberty it was this time which would change a Ki cultivator to become demi-gods on this world should they live long enough. All a cultivator needed to do was pray to one of the countless gods and request their blessing then...wait.

...

Rize followed Tomo as he led her up to the second floor of the academy.

\"Listen Rize you are not supposed to be up here. The selection of the gods are supposed to be up to fate you are not to suppose to know which gods you are asking their blessing from!\"

Rize looked up to him as they climbed the stairway \"EHH who cares Tomo I have had bad luck my whole life so what is the harm in making my own for once? I'm just going to make a list of the coolest gods major and minor. No big deal! Besides most of the larger families all have their own libraries that have the same information and their children already know the deities they will request a blessing from.\" Rize said as she rolled her eyes at Tomo's lecture.

\"Aww you may come to regret this Rize\" he sighed admitting defeat to her sheer determination, besides it was better for him to do it then have her trying to sneak up here and doing it herself.

They approached the door at the top of the stairs \"okay now Rize wait here and I will go fetch the tome.\"

Rize nerves began to wind up as she waited anxiously for the the key to her success. Deep down she wondered what god would answer her prayers in one weeks’ time during the annual ceremony. This was her chance to become an inner disciple. That would finally make others look at her ability and not her cursed eyes.

Several minutes pasted and Tomo came through the door looking around nervously. \"Rize here is the tome\" he handed a large book to her that had all the gods that the empire knew of and gave brief summaries of them \"hurry and choose no more than ten you don't want to make anyone suspicious okay.\"

\"Yeah, yeah Tomo I got it, just let me take a look\" Rize's hand darted out snatching the tome out of Tomo's hands.

As her fingers gently glided over the old leather binding to open it up right in the middle she look at the first name and description. \"Bishamonten goddess of war, Philalar god of light, Yiseri forest goddess of the Norther Forest\" she spoke each name quietly to herself until her name stopped at the one name she had been familiar with. The name sprung out at her as it was a different color ink. \"Femir.\" She whispered her voice dripping with hatefulness. Shaking her head she moved past the name flipping the page not bothering to finish it, why choose a god that doesn't even protect those who honored him the most.

Tomo stood over her leaning up against the wall waiting for her to be finished. So far she had only found six that sounded decent to her they all had numerous disciples based on the tome and were extremely popular. Finally she got to her last pick, but who should she chose Rize's eyes darted left to right, up and down the pages trying to find any popular deity that sounded up her alley, after several minutes she couldn't decide.

\"Aww Tomo I can't choose my last one\" Rize said looking up at him hoping he would give her a bit more time.

\"Rize...\" Tomo had a vein ready to pop out of her forehead \"Just pick one you have three seconds\" Tomo growled at her.

\"Fine\" quickly looking down she decided that the other nine were good enough and to just pick one that caught her eye. The page she flipped too had a small amount of water damage so she couldn't read the description, but choose Naga-Jin god of--- just as she was about to make out the last word Tomo snatched the tome back and fled back into the second floor.

\"Tomo! Wait I almost could read it!\" It was too late Tomo was already behind the door.

Rize stood slightly disappointed that she couldn’t make out if the last name was any good to her.

\"Oh well I found some decent picks for myself if I do say so!\" she said proudly as she was going to pray directly to the other nine and get a major god to back her.

After several minutes Tomo came back and escorted Rize back out who proceeded to give him a hug and peck him on the cheek “thank you Tomo! You are the best” she whispered to him before turning away and running down the stairs.

Tomo smiled as she ran off to get to do her daily chores that girl is sure a funny little thing he thought laughing to himself.

...

\"Are you ready?\" a figure stood near a window looking out over the imperial capital he stood tall watching the busy bodies of the average civilian run around doing mindlessly pointless things. The civilians were so simple they lived their lives without a care in the world he mused to himself.

Behind the man was a young man who was 14 years old \"father I won't let you down you have nothing to fear. I will get the favor of a major god.\"

The man smiled \"Good. Do not disappoint me.\"

The young boy clenched his fist in determination he knew that the honor of his family line rested on him. His other siblings all had gotten the blessing of powerful gods, now if he also succeeded in doing so he would secure his father's place as crown prince to the Sato Empire for another hundred years.

", "to": [ "https://www.w3.org/ns/activitystreams#Public" ], "cc": [ "https://www.minds.com/api/activitypub/users/829291555553550355/followers" ], "tag": [], "url": "https://www.minds.com/newsfeed/838346381711077376", "published": "2018-05-02T09:29:13+00:00", "source": { "content": "The Errors I Made ~ Chapter 3 version 2\n\nGrandmaster Zhou walked into the testing room that was merely a giant circular room with small observation pavilions on the second story of the chamber leaving the children at the bottom he made his way to the central pavilion and looked down at the many children crowded near the back of the chamber. The room had been used since the foundation of the academy to focus the magical energies of the world and concentrate them like a sauna he could feel the almost heavy quality to the air like a hot humid day.\n\nLooking down on the parchment that Captain Takeda gave him that listed all the names of the children... this won't due...there are much to many of them I need to narrow down the field. Thought Grandmaster Zhou as his time was quite valuable and he was the only tester today.\n\n\"Alright! Even if there were a lot of them he sincerely loved meeting the new children of the academy.\n\n“Yes sir!” they all cried out at once in agreement. He called the first group up which consisted of the oldest of the children that could be admitted into the academy they often were not useful starting in the academy at a later age was not recommended and only allowed when it was decent talent. The sooner they could indoctrinate and infiltrate their daily lives with the loyalty to the Imperial pantheon and Imperial family the better for the Sato Empire.\n\n\"Alright I want each of you to put your hands out and act like you are cupping a ball between both your hands\" he watched them all do as he was told and continued with the explanation \"Now. Focus all your will and energy on forming a ball of light between your hands\" it was at that moment that looks of confusion sprouted upon the numerous students as they looked around trying to see if the others understood what to do, meanwhile others were sweating profusely trying to do as they were told. Being intentionally obtuse was part of the test if these students couldn’t grasp basic concepts of Ki without an in-depth explanation they didn’t have a natural affinity for magic.\n\nGrandmaster Zhou looked down at them frowning slightly. Not one could even do the first part of the test properly he sighed taking in the disappointment. \"None of you passed please exit and the next ten come up.\" A look of dismay came across some of the students while others looks relieved not all are meant to be Ki users.\n\nThe test was a testing for three things. Though it wasn’t uncommon for those outside the pantheon to get into the school it simply was preferable for the students to be acknowledged by the deities of the Empire as it was much easier to train and teach students in gods that they already knew about.\n\nGroup after group came up before the grandmaster and none were passing several could pass the first test which meant they may one day understand, but they simply lacked the minimum level of talent to be excepted by the most prestigious school in the empire. Those who couldn't even pass step one had little hope of ever keeping with them therefore would not be accepted into the academy.\n\nAfter the last and youngest group were up. This would be most interesting he thought with a glimmer flashing in his eyes.\n\n\"Proceed!\" he commanded the children to do as the others did. He kept his eyes on the girl without letting any of the others see he was paying attention particularly on the blue eyed girl.\n\nThe girl held out her hands her arms at her side were at a ninety degree angle and her hands held out in front of her as if she were delicately holding a fragile ball in her hands a moment of surprise flashed onto his face again as he looked at the very interesting girl. Talent was only a small equation… hard work would matter all the more.\n\n\"GOOD!\" he cried out \"everyone but the young girl to the far right may leave. Young one you are going to exit out the opposite way I will be over there in a moment along with the other masters... be mindful when speaking in the other masters presence, understood?\"\n\nThe young girl nodded before silently leaving towards the next room. She’s a quiet one… good I enjoy someone who knows when to speak and when to listen.\n\nGrandmaster Zhou turned to leave as well a small smile on his face. It truly was rare to get a new disciple before the annual test happened there would be high expectations for her, plus with her eyes he doubted that even in a place for the unique and gifted she wouldn't stick out. Hopefully.\n\n...\n\nFort Edo was bustling with activity as the new conscripts had been training for several days and since they were all almost exclusively hunters they were put into a ranger battalion of roughly 300 archers. Those words caused Kijuro quite a lot of anxiety over the last couple days.\n\nKijuro felt a heavy burden as he spoke to his unit \"you all know that our first mission in a couple days is going to be a real test as we have little experience with warfare\" the previously hardened hunters all knew that it was a daily struggle to survive when hunting dangerous beasts in the Great Northern forest, but fighting another who was just as intelligent and bent on survival as they were was not the same their eyes for many of them showed fear something Kijuro didn't know what to do about, because... he was terrified as well.\n\nIn three days’ time his fellow men and himself were going into enemy territory to scout and destroy their supplies that were being shipped towards the enemies frontlines and this was something that most would consider a suicide mission, but Kijuro knew that no matter what happened he would survive to see his wife and daughter again.\n\nNyoko... Rize... wait patiently your Kijuro will be back he thought to himself as his men let loose another round of arrows at targets.\n\n...\n\nIn the next room Minako Rize stood silently waiting for the masters to show up. Though from the outside it looked like Rize was calm in her head she was still in a daze, never in a thousand lifetimes did she think she would have the opportunity or the talent to be accepted into the most famous academy in all of the empire, but what really excited her was the look her father would have when he came home. It really was too much for her young mind to take in fully yet.\n\nAs she waited she thought about the moment the energy flowed through her body. She had never felt a more elating feeling in her life. It made her feel strong and secure something that she never really felt even in the warmth and protection of her parents. The pure raw power was almost addicting to the young girl.\n\n\"Minako Rize!\" a thunderous voice came from above where the masters all stood on their own individual pavilions she looked up at them with determination.\n\n\"You have shown enough aptitude to be accepted as an outer disciple of the academy. As such you will not have a formal master until you reach the point when your spiritual energy awakens to its innate nature. Until then you will live and study in the academy along with doing upkeep and learning the martial arts. The other masters have all agreed to this result as I have informed them of your ability.\" Grandmaster Zhao spoke with a thunderous voice on a totally different level than he spoke with before.\n\nThere was a long pause as the Grandmaster finished his sentence Rize still didn't know what to say at this point \"Is there anything you would like to ask?\" one of the other masters asked who was a young beautiful woman who couldn't be older than 19 years old. It was still a shock that a ball of light came out of her body so deep down Rize had not yet comprehended it fully as of yet so she choose to except it.\n\nAt that moment she did think of one question \"I do have one question\" she paused as the master smiled lightly \"will I get to see my family again?\"\n\nThe women nodded \"yes disciples are allow to see their family once a year during the lunar New Year festivals. Besides that they are allowed to write to their loved ones.\"\n\nRize's heart dropped like a boulder that rolled off a cliff. She wouldn't get to see her family, but one time a year?!? How could she do this? Seeing her mother, but once a year and only writing to her was earth shaking revelation.\n\n\"Child I know what you are thinking. Each and every other student goes thru thoughts like this at this moment, know this once you graduate this academy you will be able to freely come and go as you please, your family has an entire lifetime to see you, this opportunity is only now.\"\n\nThe words sounded similar to that of her father's words and at that moment she nodded accepting that life was full of challenges “thank you for your words of wisdom master\" she bowed respectfully to the young female master.\n\n\"Good we will send a letter to your guardian informing them of your choice\" the women smiled one last time before they told her to go meet the person who would escort her to the living quarters for outer disciples.\n\nRize looked towards the exit one last time before moving forward her tiny frame standing stoically in the giant room. Maybe here…just maybe she won’t be rejected because of who she is.\n\n…\n\nSix years later\n\n\"Rize... Rize wake up.\"\n\nRize opened her eyes slowly taking in her surroundings giant trees towered all around her their roots warping the forest floor into an uneven and unnatural look. Birds fluttered around in the patches of sun light that filtered thru the canopy. Her hair was sprawled out around her as she propped herself onto her elbows. Where am I? She thought to herself. With blurred vision a figure stood in her vision with a hand stretched out to her. The body blocked out the sun momentarily obscuring her view further.\n\n\"Rize come to me!\" the deep gentle voice was so familiar to her... how long was it since she last heard it? She couldn’t even remember the last time that voice entered her ears.\n\nRize's vision cleared and before her stood her father they were in the middle of the great trees of the Northern forest wearing his cloak he always wore on their hunting trips.\n\nSmiling Rize jumped up from where she was laying.\n\n\"Papa? You are back from the frontlines?! Is the war over?\" Rize said excitedly.\n\n\"War? What war?\" his face gave away to confusion as he pulled back his hand.\n\nRize paused \"Yo-you don't remember?\" she said paused.\n\nAs she said those words she realized she didn't remember how she got here, but how was that possible? She wasn’t crazy he\n\n\"Rize... The moment had passed so quickly she couldn’t process what had just happened.\n\nAfter a few moments passed by her vision narrowed as if she was pulled into a long tunnel her soul seemed to be having a floating out of body experience as she watched her father die before her eyes. As if being pulled away from the horrific scene she reached out as she was pulled into a tunnel of pure darkness.\n\n\"FATHER!\" Rize let out a silent scream as she tried to yell out to no avail... only silence... “Come…to me…child.” A whisper could be heard before everything when black.\n\nSilence was all that could be heard…no it was more than silence it was a complete lack of sound…the world was silent and black.\n\nRize's eyes shot open as she found herself laying in her bedchamber she was breathing heavily as she had the same nightmare every time she dreamed, but a different way her father died each time.\n\nPerhaps it was her imagination running wild, but ever since her masters told her that her father died in combat five years ago she had not had a peaceful night of sleep since. She stared at the ceiling a single tear rolled down her smooth cheek.\n\n'Curse him... he promised' bitterly she found the willpower to pull herself up from her bed and looked into the mirror right across from herself. In the reflection was a small athletic girl with piercing blue eyes and long, black, messy hair. \"aww\" she let out a mildly disappointed sigh before running her slender fingers thru her hair to comb it in place.\n\nShe quickly put on her disciple's robes and left her room. The Empire was partly meritocracy as the strong and talented could rise from their lowly places and reach levels fairly high, but even commoners found that reaching the royal family was a sliver of a dream.\n\nRize never realize how hierarchal society was until she came to the academy in fact the entire empire was built on a strict hierarchy that could not be broken so easily. Because of this even though her talent was decent and she was one of the hardest workers of the outer disciples she was still considered the lowest of the low due to her poor background and her cursed blue eyes. Even though many would call her a top beauty at the school no one would come near her due to this fact. She was the outcast of the outcast. Not even disciples from similar backgrounds would associate with her.\n\nUltimately however Rize didn't mind it, she was better off alone anyways. How could she ever trust any of them to have her back? If they won't even look past the superficial? Rize walked down the main path most of the students parting ways around her not wanting to be even thought of associating with her. The white stone paths of the academy were polished from the constant wear of students and masters walking along it and had a slight blackish glean to them.\n\n\"Hey! Look who it is guys!\" a familiarly vile voice came from ahead of her. Looking up she already knew who the voice belonged to. Masaru Hyudo the biggest jerk of the outer disciples and his posse of moronic henchmen.\n\n\"What do you want Masaru?\" Rize said slightly annoyed these were the only guys who gave her a majorly rough time for her eyes the rest simply left her alone or just talked behind her back \"just leave me alone.\"\n\n\"AHH! Minako you are so cute, but why are you always so stand offish we just want to hang out with our good friend Minako Rize\" he said mockingly his posse snickering in the background.\n\n\"Don't use my first name. We aren't that close Masaru...\" she growled when she heard him speak her first name.\n\nMasaru's eyes narrowed slightly as he glared at Rize \"really now...who are you a daughter of a poor waitress and a lowly pathetic hunter tell me or anyone here at this academy what to do? HUH?\"\n\nPausing for a second an evil look flashed onto his face “oh wait…isn’t that right your father died pathetically in battle. I heard they never found his body…maybe he ran away like a coward. I mean your parents didn’t have the bravery to abandon a cursed child like you in the first place. How much honor could he possibly have?” his entire group along with a few onlookers snickered at the sharp words.\n\nRize felt a surge of blood begin to boil in her veins as she lost control. Not even flinching he stood up straight and sent out his fist at her colliding with her forehead sending her flying back several feet don't a backwards somersault in the air Rize sprung off her hands and landed on her feet again.\n\n\"Rize, you are pathetic you think that cause you train more than anyone you can overcome pure talent? Right now you can hold your own, but as soon as our spiritual innate natures are revealed the gap between trash like you and people from noble bloodlines like me will widen and you will have to keep your temper in check.\" Masaru berated Rize before turning around \"Let's leave this pathetic wastrel.\"\n\nRize hated all these morons...they were all idiots. Getting up she left and went to the library where she wanted to study more about innate natures it was her only hope in leveling out the playing field is if she could figure out a way to discover some deity who was compatible with her innate nature of her personality and Ki.\n\n...\n\nThere was only one person she respected in the outer disciple core and that was the librarian who helped her study since she was young. His name was Tomo and he never had the talent to reach the rank of master, but found his talent good enough to keep track and tend to the ancient tomes and scrolls of the academy.\n\nThe man was in his mid-thirties with brown hair and small reading glasses always on his face and half his face was almost always shoved into a tome or scroll whenever she saw him. Rize had an appreciation well up inside her. Rize had much to be thankful towards Tomo.\n\nLooking up from the current tome he was reading he smiled towards the small girl that was marching towards him. His face wasn’t particularly handsome, but wasn’t ugly either. It had always surprised her that Tomo had never gone and found himself a wife.\n\n\"Why hel---waaawwwh\" he let out a gasp as Rize grabbed him by the back of his collar dragging him towards the second floor of the library. Her tiny frame was significantly shorter than Tomo, but she still managed to reach up and drag the middle aged man around.\n\nStopping in front of the locked stair case she looked at Tomo with a look of pure seriousness \"Tomo...let me into the second floor.\"\n\nThe words fell out of her mouth so quickly it took Tomo about five seconds before he busted out laughing.\n\n\"BAHAHAHA!\"\n\nRize's frown only deepened as she waited for Tomo to be done. After about a minute he regained his composure.\n\nTaking a deep breath he looked at her seriously \"Rize that is for inner disciples only I can't possibly...\" he paused looking at her deadpanned face.\n\n\"Tomo... I am serious.\"\n\n\"Eh?\" he paused. “Rize. Your Ki is not strong enough to go up there the dense amount of Ki was made to stop people like outer disciple from going in…” he paused as he looked at Rize who had not flinched at a single word he made “fine…follow me.”\n\nKi was something that took many different forms it was what connected humanity to the heavens, furthermore it is what individual gods would use to differentiate their followers from other gods. All a cultivator needed to do was pray to one of the countless gods and request their blessing then...wait.\n\n...\n\nRize followed Tomo as he led her up to the second floor of the academy.\n\n\"Listen Rize you are not supposed to be up here. The selection of the gods are supposed to be up to fate you are not to suppose to know which gods you are asking their blessing from!\"\n\nRize looked up to him as they climbed the stairway \"EHH who cares Tomo I have had bad luck my whole life so what is the harm in making my own for once? I'm just going to make a list of the coolest gods major and minor. No big deal! Besides most of the larger families all have their own libraries that have the same information and their children already know the deities they will request a blessing from.\" Rize said as she rolled her eyes at Tomo's lecture.\n\n\"Aww you may come to regret this Rize\" he sighed admitting defeat to her sheer determination, besides it was better for him to do it then have her trying to sneak up here and doing it herself.\n\nThey approached the door at the top of the stairs \"okay now Rize wait here and I will go fetch the tome.\"\n\nRize nerves began to wind up as she waited anxiously for the the key to her success. Deep down she wondered what god would answer her prayers in one weeks’ time during the annual ceremony. This was her chance to become an inner disciple. That would finally make others look at her ability and not her cursed eyes.\n\nSeveral minutes pasted and Tomo came through the door looking around nervously. \"Rize here is the tome\" he handed a large book to her that had all the gods that the empire knew of and gave brief summaries of them \"hurry and choose no more than ten you don't want to make anyone suspicious okay.\"\n\n\"Yeah, yeah Tomo I got it, just let me take a look\" Rize's hand darted out snatching the tome out of Tomo's hands.\n\nAs her fingers gently glided over the old leather binding to open it up right in the middle she look at the first name and description. Shaking her head she moved past the name flipping the page not bothering to finish it, why choose a god that doesn't even protect those who honored him the most.\n\nTomo stood over her leaning up against the wall waiting for her to be finished. So far she had only found six that sounded decent to her they all had numerous disciples based on the tome and were extremely popular. Finally she got to her last pick, but who should she chose Rize's eyes darted left to right, up and down the pages trying to find any popular deity that sounded up her alley, after several minutes she couldn't decide.\n\n\"Aww Tomo I can't choose my last one\" Rize said looking up at him hoping he would give her a bit more time.\n\n\"Rize...\" Tomo had a vein ready to pop out of her forehead \"Just pick one you have three seconds\" Tomo growled at her.\n\n\"Fine\" quickly looking down she decided that the other nine were good enough and to just pick one that caught her eye. The page she flipped too had a small amount of water damage so she couldn't read the description, but choose Naga-Jin god of--- just as she was about to make out the last word Tomo snatched the tome back and fled back into the second floor.\n\n\"Tomo! Wait I almost could read it!\" It was too late Tomo was already behind the door.\n\nRize stood slightly disappointed that she couldn’t make out if the last name was any good to her.\n\n\"Oh well I found some decent picks for myself if I do say so!\" she said proudly as she was going to pray directly to the other nine and get a major god to back her.\n\nAfter several minutes Tomo came back and escorted Rize back out who proceeded to give him a hug and peck him on the cheek “thank you Tomo! You are the best” she whispered to him before turning away and running down the stairs.\n\nTomo smiled as she ran off to get to do her daily chores that girl is sure a funny little thing he thought laughing to himself.\n\n...\n\n\"Are you ready?\" a figure stood near a window looking out over the imperial capital he stood tall watching the busy bodies of the average civilian run around doing mindlessly pointless things. A pale faced man ran desperately to escape. His entire party had turned to try and fight off the nightmare that was chasing them. Oleg was not one that was that brave. He had joined this damned expedition for a easy tomb robbery that they had discovered in the forgotten lands of Alaur.

'Stupid!'

Of all the abandoned ruins in the world and tombs they choose one with a nightmare in it. This wasn't what he had signed up for. Oleg was not an honorable warrior and it often bothered him, but he valued his life more than honor and far more than his comrades.

Running down the corridors Oleg saw it split three directions seemingly endless.

'Shit!'

He screamed in his head.

'Which way did we take?'

Screams echoed from not far from where Oleg stood. The sound of people gurgling on their own blood made his stomach churn.

'What have we awoken?!'

He thought trying to decide which corridor to run down.

'...'

'Left is the best.'

It was a gamble, but one worth taking. Oleg sprinted down the left corridor his torch lighting less than 12 feet either direction. He was a bulky man with a long ago receding hairline.

The screams got ever closer.

'Why did those morons run down this way also!'

Oleg ran faster than he had ever run before. The corridor came to an end opening up to a large arena like place with a stone throne on the other side. Runic marking were carved into the stone pillars that circled the arena.

His eyes scanned for an exit. If he could get to the forest outside of this blasted tomb he could escape. His eyes darted back and forth searching for anything that could be used to escape or at the minimum hide.

Panic overcame him as he realized their was none.

The screams were less than one hundred feet behind him.

With no options Oleg decided to wedge himself between a crevice in two pillars.

Sweat dripped down his nose as he prayed a silent prayer to the Gods.

Oleg felt a chilling presence enter the arena. The entire area began to drop in temperature ever so slowly. Oleg stopped his body from shivering as best as he could. He leaned forward peering beyond the crevice.

*dak

*dak

Into his vision came the nightmare that had slain all his comrades. What laid before him was a being made of only metal armor. His helm was shaped like an elongated skull its body had a ribcage like armor and clawlike gauntlets and metal boots. Its pauldrons were small about half the size of its helm all this was connected by chainmail. Besides the gore and sinew that dripped from its clawed gauntlets. What confused Oleg was no mortal body was within the armor. All that made it look like anything but a normal armor was a pair of glowing mist that poured forth from the metallic skull.

Oleg shuddered as he backed away from the crevices opening. As he moved his foot back to turn back he knocked a stone to the ground. The noise though small seemed deafening to Oleg his heart stopped the slow consistent thumping felt like it was going to burst thru his chest.

The nightmarish creature's head snapped towards Oleg he could feel the eyes focusing on him even though most mortals wouldn't have been able to exactly pinpoint his location.

Just as Oleg was about to back away further into his hiding place a clawed gauntlet burst into the crevice grabbing him by the throat. He let out yelp like a wounded dog.

The nightmare ripped Oleg from his hiding place and threw him to the ground.

Although Oleg was a coward he wasn’t weak in combat he immediately drew his short sword as he slide on one hand away from the nightmare.

The nightmare in armor turned slowly taking one step towards him. It's presence seemed to grow with each step.

'Perhaps it could be reasoned with?'

\"Pl..please spare me!\" Oleg stuttered in desperation he put his forehead to the ground in submission.

The being stopped in front of him and halted.

Oleg didn't know what to say, but he couldn't worry about that right now.

\"Oh. Great! Ruler! Of this place I humbly ask you to allow me to be of service to you.\"

Oleg got on his knees slowly dropping his sword.

\"And what can a mere mortal do for me?\"

The words were slightly shocking to Oleg who didn't expect a response.

\"Milord... this foolish mortal who awoke you and sought to plunder your tomb. We sought to explore your tomb in the newly founded vassal kingdom of Choord under the Zearia empire.\"

Oleg paused to see if the being reacted to this. It stood by unfazed.

\"Sure..surely if milord wanted to keep future intruders out of your realm you'd need me to go and tell the new kingdom that there is nothing here to see.\"

The nightmare lowered down to Oleg.

\"You will serve me mortal. Come with me.\"

Oleg's throat involuntarily swallowed as he stood up his legs shaking.

\"As you wish Lord!\"

He grabbed his short sword and sheathed it.

His new nightmarish Lord walked back into the depths of the tomb and Oleg followed.

...

The intruders had been dealt with and yet Wrathe felt like something was amiss. The reawakening process for the tomb had yet to begin why was he awake so early. The Tomb King was to be one of the last beings to awaken once the awakening of the tombs inhabitants begin the reawakening process.

Wrathe strode deeper into the tomb where he saw his obsidian throne. The only reason he had kept the cowardly mortal alive was that he could provide much useful information to him.

Many things had to be decided. This wasn't part of the plan.

Wrathe sat down on the throne and raised his hand a green flame erupted from his gauntlet and a staff began to materialize with a curved sword on its end. Wrathe set the staff besides him as he sat on his throne before him was the mortal he had encountered in the council chambers of the Necropolis.

\"Speak your name mortal.\"

\"Oleg! Milord!\"

'What a terrible name' Wrathe thought.

\"What is the year is it Oleg?\"

\"Milord the year is the 220th year of the Zearia empire.\"

Zearia empire? A empire that he had never heard of?

\"The Zearia empire? What has become of the Holy Vaul empire?\"

Oleg was confused he had never paid attention to the continents history much as a child, but if he remembered it had been nearly ten thousand years since the Vaul empire and splintered apart.

\"Milord the Vaul empire splintered nearly ten thousand years ago.\"

Wrathe didn't reveal the panic he was feeling on the inside since he had no face to show such emotions. That was shocking based on the plan it was supposed to be twenty thousand years after its fall that the reawakening process began.

The Vaul empire was mortal foes to Wrathe's long forgotten empire. Though Wrathe was considered a king in the most basic sense he was not the supreme ruler of all his people. His Necropolis was one of the smallest and weakest of his people's mighty empire. The Grim king was the ruler of all the Orr empire.

Wrathe was merely a lowly tomb king. Worst yet he was widely considered one of the weakest. How would he proceed? Worst yet he knew little of the current age he found himself in.

\"Oleg tell me what is the current nations the rule this continent?\"

\"Sire I wish I could answer your question truthfully, but to name the thousands of empires that control this vast continent would be impossible and that doesn't include vassal kingdoms within the various empires.\"

So the Vaul splintered and left behind chaos. Humanity was no longer united under one banner this was a small bit of good news and better yet the other races had always kept to themselves and didn't concern themselves with the affairs of humans... most the time.

\"Very well then tell me of the situation surrounding my Necropolis.\"

\"As you wish.\"

Oleg bowed deeply before beginning.

\"Right now your tomb lies in a tenth ranked empire known as Zearia in that empire you are directly under the newly established 8th ranked vassal kingdom of Choord.\"

Ranks? What does that have to do with anything.

\"Is that so, tell me Oleg what are these ranks you speak of.\"

\"Milord it is how the various nations and empires determine how powerful they are.\"

\"So elaborate!\" Wrathe said impatiently.

Oleg shifted nervously.

\"Sire a level 10 empire is the weakest of the empires and even a 9th ranked empire could easily destroy them the differences in power between ranks is immense. Within the empires are affiliated kingdoms or vassals. Who are ranked from 10 being the weakest to 1 being the strongest. For a kingdom going up in ranks means more military support and more influence in the empire's royal court.\"

Oleg paused.

\"As of now you find yourself under a recently established affiliate kingdom of Choord. Who has a military force of 5,000.\"

Wrathe frowned. His Kingdom was far from the other major Necropolis that are scattered throughout the continent. His first goal should be to revive his own and work towards awaking the rest of them conquering this world for the sake of the Grim King.

The world has obviously forgotten the Orran empire who had been feared so much until its foe the Vaul empire drove them to a long slumber beneath the earth.

Wrath gripped his naginata though he may have to conquer this entire continent to awaken his brethren he would do it. First he would start with his servants here.

\"Oleg you are a lucky mortal. You are about to witness an event that will shake the foundations of this world. You shall be my ambassador to the mortals above.\"

Oleg knew at that moment he wouldn’t be escaping this fate and his shoulders slumped.

Wrathe looked at the depressed Oleg and smiled with his non existing facial muscles.

Standing up he lifted his staff into the air a green glow shrouded the weapon and he slammed it into the ground.

The entire tomb shook as it roared to life. The previously dark corridors and rooms lit up in a viridescent glow.

Yes. The world had forgotten the terror facing the armies of Orr. He would remind them.

", "to": [ "https://www.w3.org/ns/activitystreams#Public" ], "cc": [ "https://www.minds.com/api/activitypub/users/829291555553550355/followers" ], "tag": [], "url": "https://www.minds.com/newsfeed/834786135407407104", "published": "2018-04-22T13:42:04+00:00", "source": { "content": "THE RISE OF THE FORGOTTEN CHAPTER 1\n\n\nA hooded figure stood in the center of a large forest that stretched for miles in all directions. A pale faced man ran desperately to escape. His entire party had turned to try and fight off the nightmare that was chasing them. Oleg was not one that was that brave. He had joined this damned expedition for a easy tomb robbery that they had discovered in the forgotten lands of Alaur.\n\n'Stupid!'\n\nOf all the abandoned ruins in the world and tombs they choose one with a nightmare in it. This wasn't what he had signed up for. Oleg was not an honorable warrior and it often bothered him, but he valued his life more than honor and far more than his comrades.\n\nRunning down the corridors Oleg saw it split three directions seemingly endless.\n\n'Shit!'\n\nHe screamed in his head.\n\n'Which way did we take?'\n\nScreams echoed from not far from where Oleg stood. The sound of people gurgling on their own blood made his stomach churn.\n\n'What have we awoken?!'\n\nHe thought trying to decide which corridor to run down.\n\n'...'\n\n'Left is the best.'\n\nIt was a gamble, but one worth taking. Oleg sprinted down the left corridor his torch lighting less than 12 feet either direction. He was a bulky man with a long ago receding hairline.\n\nThe screams got ever closer.\n\n'Why did those morons run down this way also!'\n\nOleg ran faster than he had ever run before. The corridor came to an end opening up to a large arena like place with a stone throne on the other side. Runic marking were carved into the stone pillars that circled the arena.\n\nHis eyes scanned for an exit. If he could get to the forest outside of this blasted tomb he could escape. His eyes darted back and forth searching for anything that could be used to escape or at the minimum hide.\n\nPanic overcame him as he realized their was none.\n\nThe screams were less than one hundred feet behind him.\n\nWith no options Oleg decided to wedge himself between a crevice in two pillars.\n\nSweat dripped down his nose as he prayed a silent prayer to the Gods.\n\nOleg felt a chilling presence enter the arena. The entire area began to drop in temperature ever so slowly. Oleg stopped his body from shivering as best as he could. He leaned forward peering beyond the crevice.\n\n*dak\n\n*dak\n\nInto his vision came the nightmare that had slain all his comrades. What laid before him was a being made of only metal armor. His helm was shaped like an elongated skull its body had a ribcage like armor and clawlike gauntlets and metal boots. Its pauldrons were small about half the size of its helm all this was connected by chainmail. Besides the gore and sinew that dripped from its clawed gauntlets. What confused Oleg was no mortal body was within the armor. All that made it look like anything but a normal armor was a pair of glowing mist that poured forth from the metallic skull.\n\nOleg shuddered as he backed away from the crevices opening. As he moved his foot back to turn back he knocked a stone to the ground. The noise though small seemed deafening to Oleg his heart stopped the slow consistent thumping felt like it was going to burst thru his chest.\n\nThe nightmarish creature's head snapped towards Oleg he could feel the eyes focusing on him even though most mortals wouldn't have been able to exactly pinpoint his location.\n\nJust as Oleg was about to back away further into his hiding place a clawed gauntlet burst into the crevice grabbing him by the throat. He let out yelp like a wounded dog.\n\nThe nightmare ripped Oleg from his hiding place and threw him to the ground.\n\nAlthough Oleg was a coward he wasn’t weak in combat he immediately drew his short sword as he slide on one hand away from the nightmare.\n\nThe nightmare in armor turned slowly taking one step towards him. It's presence seemed to grow with each step.\n\n'Perhaps it could be reasoned with?'\n\n\"Pl..please spare me!\" Oleg stuttered in desperation he put his forehead to the ground in submission.\n\nThe being stopped in front of him and halted.\n\nOleg didn't know what to say, but he couldn't worry about that right now.\n\n\"Oh. Great! Ruler! Of this place I humbly ask you to allow me to be of service to you.\"\n\nOleg got on his knees slowly dropping his sword.\n\n\"And what can a mere mortal do for me?\"\n\nThe words were slightly shocking to Oleg who didn't expect a response.\n\n\"Milord... this foolish mortal who awoke you and sought to plunder your tomb. We sought to explore your tomb in the newly founded vassal kingdom of Choord under the Zearia empire.\"\n\nOleg paused to see if the being reacted to this. It stood by unfazed.\n\n\"Sure..surely if milord wanted to keep future intruders out of your realm you'd need me to go and tell the new kingdom that there is nothing here to see.\"\n\nThe nightmare lowered down to Oleg.\n\n\"You will serve me mortal. Come with me.\"\n\nOleg's throat involuntarily swallowed as he stood up his legs shaking.\n\n\"As you wish Lord!\"\n\nHe grabbed his short sword and sheathed it.\n\nHis new nightmarish Lord walked back into the depths of the tomb and Oleg followed.\n\n...\n\nThe intruders had been dealt with and yet Wrathe felt like something was amiss. The reawakening process for the tomb had yet to begin why was he awake so early. The Tomb King was to be one of the last beings to awaken once the awakening of the tombs inhabitants begin the reawakening process.\n\nWrathe strode deeper into the tomb where he saw his obsidian throne. The only reason he had kept the cowardly mortal alive was that he could provide much useful information to him.\n\nMany things had to be decided. This wasn't part of the plan.\n\nWrathe sat down on the throne and raised his hand a green flame erupted from his gauntlet and a staff began to materialize with a curved sword on its end. Wrathe set the staff besides him as he sat on his throne before him was the mortal he had encountered in the council chambers of the Necropolis.\n\n\"Speak your name mortal.\"\n\n\"Oleg! Milord!\"\n\n'What a terrible name' Wrathe thought.\n\n\"What is the year is it Oleg?\"\n\n\"Milord the year is the 220th year of the Zearia empire.\"\n\nZearia empire? A empire that he had never heard of?\n\n\"The Zearia empire? What has become of the Holy Vaul empire?\"\n\nOleg was confused he had never paid attention to the continents history much as a child, but if he remembered it had been nearly ten thousand years since the Vaul empire and splintered apart.\n\n\"Milord the Vaul empire splintered nearly ten thousand years ago.\"\n\nWrathe didn't reveal the panic he was feeling on the inside since he had no face to show such emotions. That was shocking based on the plan it was supposed to be twenty thousand years after its fall that the reawakening process began.\n\nThe Vaul empire was mortal foes to Wrathe's long forgotten empire. Though Wrathe was considered a king in the most basic sense he was not the supreme ruler of all his people. His Necropolis was one of the smallest and weakest of his people's mighty empire. The Grim king was the ruler of all the Orr empire.\n\nWrathe was merely a lowly tomb king. Worst yet he was widely considered one of the weakest. How would he proceed? Worst yet he knew little of the current age he found himself in.\n\n\"Oleg tell me what is the current nations the rule this continent?\"\n\n\"Sire I wish I could answer your question truthfully, but to name the thousands of empires that control this vast continent would be impossible and that doesn't include vassal kingdoms within the various empires.\"\n\nSo the Vaul splintered and left behind chaos. Humanity was no longer united under one banner this was a small bit of good news and better yet the other races had always kept to themselves and didn't concern themselves with the affairs of humans... most the time.\n\n\"Very well then tell me of the situation surrounding my Necropolis.\"\n\n\"As you wish.\"\n\nOleg bowed deeply before beginning.\n\n\"Right now your tomb lies in a tenth ranked empire known as Zearia in that empire you are directly under the newly established 8th ranked vassal kingdom of Choord.\"\n\nRanks? What does that have to do with anything.\n\n\"Is that so, tell me Oleg what are these ranks you speak of.\"\n\n\"Milord it is how the various nations and empires determine how powerful they are.\"\n\n\"So elaborate!\" Wrathe said impatiently.\n\nOleg shifted nervously.\n\n\"Sire a level 10 empire is the weakest of the empires and even a 9th ranked empire could easily destroy them the differences in power between ranks is immense. Within the empires are affiliated kingdoms or vassals. Who are ranked from 10 being the weakest to 1 being the strongest. For a kingdom going up in ranks means more military support and more influence in the empire's royal court.\"\n\nOleg paused.\n\n\"As of now you find yourself under a recently established affiliate kingdom of Choord. Who has a military force of 5,000.\"\n\nWrathe frowned. His Kingdom was far from the other major Necropolis that are scattered throughout the continent. His first goal should be to revive his own and work towards awaking the rest of them conquering this world for the sake of the Grim King.\n\nThe world has obviously forgotten the Orran empire who had been feared so much until its foe the Vaul empire drove them to a long slumber beneath the earth.\n\nWrath gripped his naginata though he may have to conquer this entire continent to awaken his brethren he would do it. First he would start with his servants here.\n\n\"Oleg you are a lucky mortal. You are about to witness an event that will shake the foundations of this world. You shall be my ambassador to the mortals above.\"\n\nOleg knew at that moment he wouldn’t be escaping this fate and his shoulders slumped.\n\nWrathe looked at the depressed Oleg and smiled with his non existing facial muscles.\n\nStanding up he lifted his staff into the air a green glow shrouded the weapon and he slammed it into the ground.\n\nThe entire tomb shook as it roared to life. The previously dark corridors and rooms lit up in a viridescent glow.\n\nYes. The world had forgotten the terror facing the armies of Orr. He would remind them.\n\n", "mediaType": "text/plain" } }, "id": "https://www.minds.com/api/activitypub/users/829291555553550355/entities/urn:activity:834786135407407104/activity" }, { "type": "Create", "actor": "https://www.minds.com/api/activitypub/users/829291555553550355", "object": { "type": "Note", "id": "https://www.minds.com/api/activitypub/users/829291555553550355/entities/urn:activity:834680083550797824", "attributedTo": "https://www.minds.com/api/activitypub/users/829291555553550355", "content": "Ia loving reading Herbert Hoover's book A Challenge to Liberty.", "to": [ "https://www.w3.org/ns/activitystreams#Public" ], "cc": [ "https://www.minds.com/api/activitypub/users/829291555553550355/followers" ], "tag": [], "url": "https://www.minds.com/newsfeed/834680083550797824", "published": "2018-04-22T06:40:39+00:00", "source": { "content": "Ia loving reading Herbert Hoover's book A Challenge to Liberty.", "mediaType": "text/plain" } }, "id": "https://www.minds.com/api/activitypub/users/829291555553550355/entities/urn:activity:834680083550797824/activity" }, { "type": "Create", "actor": "https://www.minds.com/api/activitypub/users/829291555553550355", "object": { "type": "Note", "id": "https://www.minds.com/api/activitypub/users/829291555553550355/entities/urn:activity:834205539296677888", "attributedTo": "https://www.minds.com/api/activitypub/users/829291555553550355", "content": "Chapter two is released on minds. Rize was used to the quiet almost bewitching silence of the village with the occasional rustle if the trees of the Great Northern forest. They made their way further inwards of the city before they came to a huge complex surrounded by white stone with the symbol of the Phoenix on the face of the walls. The walls thenselves were smaller than the outer city walls, but still formidable none the less. Quickly they were hurried into the complex where numerous multilayered buildings surrounded them going several stories high the complex was huge much larger than the previous districts of the city they had previously went thru. There were areas full of trees and ponds and practice fields to the side where young people dressed in matching tunics practiced various movements that Rize was unfamiliar with.\n\n\"Captain Takeda!\" an old voice came from in front of them as the man descended the stairs from the main building in the center of the complex towards them \"it has been awhile hasn't it? I wasn't expecting you to bring another batch of potential recruits so soon!\"\n\n\"Grandmaster Zhou! It is truly an honor to see you again!\" Captain Takeda bowed lowly \"The recruits are ready to be evaluated.\"\n\n \n\n\"Fantastic we will see if you brought any good recruits this time shall we?\" a hopeful look shined in his eyes as he observed the group of roughly 150 children.\n\n \n\nRize felt slightly at ease similar to the feelig she got from Mr. Itakura. She got very restless as she heard so many wonderful stories of magic users and if she had the opportunity to learn it she wanted to impress her father when he returned from the army.\n\n\"Now then follow me.\"\n\nRize and the rest followed them towards the main building. Clenching her fist she knew that this was her opportunity the same way her father always told her to not hesitate she went in confidently to see her fate.\n\n", "mediaType": "text/plain" } }, "id": "https://www.minds.com/api/activitypub/users/829291555553550355/entities/urn:activity:834205278612295680/activity" } ], "id": "https://www.minds.com/api/activitypub/users/829291555553550355/outbox", "partOf": "https://www.minds.com/api/activitypub/users/829291555553550355/outboxoutbox" }
