I tutor my students where they and I feel comfortable. So I want to make sure I have my water and whatever provisions I need. I made myself a carrot, celery, apple, blueberry smoothie to take along. I drank it while my student was having his snack and it helped me from getting lost in the scent of pepperoni pizza.

Making food ahead of time is just one way of being prepared. If your job entails much travel, then you should try to seek out restaurants that cater to your eating plan. It’s getting easier and easier to order off menu in restaurants because of food allergies, you can just ask or check their website. You can also do some research ahead of time and find restaurants that are conducive to healthy eating. My favorite is to find the nearest natural food stores where you can purchase meals or salads. I’d much rather pay $10 for a salad in a natural food store that’s all organic than one at a restaurant where you don’t know the origin of its growth. The grocery store is always the cheaper of healthy eating, but chances are the food is not organic.

Preparedness also means doing some of the meal prep on one day a week and finishing up the day you’re planning to eat the meal. Last night I began soaking some cashews for my cauliflower cashew “Alfredo” sauce to go along with my zoodles I plan for dinner tonight. I also chopped up some flat leaf parsley and garlic to make my raw chimichurri sauce to go along with some steamed sweet potatoes and sprouted green lentils.

Being prepared with our food means we will always have what we need. Making a menu of the recipes you’re making for first and second meals and a grocery list means you won’t forget anything at the store. Every time we walk into a store we’re walking into temptation. If you’re not strong enough, you’ll give into those 2/$5 sales of muffins in the check out lane.
