"When our child is acting out, it can help to remember this...

Aware Parenting reminds us that children are naturally loving, cooperative and connected.
If your child is \"misbehaving\", it could be for 3 reasons:
- he needs more information: maybe he didn't know that he was not allowed to do what he just done? It can be helpful then to take the time to explain to him: \"it hurts when you do that\" or \"it's dangerous because...\", etc...

- he has unmet needs: for example the need for connection/closeness> when our child feels disconnected from us (when we don't give him enough loving attention), he'll disconnect from himself and from his loving and cooperative nature. Spending some time offering him your full attention and dive into his play for 10min could make all the difference!
It can also be a need for autonomy (\"I can do it by myself! trust me!\"), for his own space (when little sister breaks his tower of blocks), for food, etc.

- he needs to release uncomfortable feelings: very often, when our child is doing things he KNOWS he should not be doing, he's actually calling for help: \"mum, I feel so mad inside that I can't stop from throwing stuff on the ground!\"

When our child is (for example) throwing stuff on the ground, we can:
> stop him from doing so by setting a loving limit \"I won't let you throwing that, sweet heart\"
> AND offer compassion \"I see you're upset...
