At worst they’ll think it’s a significant portion.<br />Really, it’s more an insult than a question, to imply that every member of a movement would support genocide. But it’s more insidious than that<br />But this is the dynamic he’s using.<br />First of all it’s a loaded question, implying it happened. Now, he knows many in the Alt Right don’t believe the official story. Most still believe millions died, but they will doubt three key aspects. The number, the manner and if Hitler gave the order. You add “if it happened”, the usual approach, but then you’re seen as a denier yourself, leaving a false impression of your position, leaving your uninvested non Alt Right fans vulnerable to be attacked and discouraged in fear of sharing your content as a suspected thought criminal and becoming legally vulnerable yourself, after which there are two options. <br />A.) Refuse to acknowledge it and face possible (often indirect through corrupted police terrorizing the public) legal and social consequences affecting you and your family and worsen the fear of your outer audience cycle. – one member down, instilled fear in audience the Alt Right tries to reach<br />B.) Acknowledge it directly and leave your friends more isolated. - Reduce comradery in the community, bullies are empowered.<br />For people who don’t accept the story.<br />1.) They directly deny it with full legal consequences and the results already described.<br />2.) Refuse to acknowledge it with a similar effect.<br />All those being undesirable, and with little to nothing gained in return, most people will ignore sargon’s insulting question <br />And keep in mind, denying or accepting the holocaust has no effect on the Alt Right message. No one needs to promote it, they just happen to believe it. Sure it can act as a gateway, people are surprised to learn so much more about it they’ve never heard before and they look into more narratives, even if the first one that surprised them turned out to be false, it still lead them to legitimate dispelling of other myths.<br />But there are many alternatives to this.<br />And people like sargon, smugly relying on the pressure of the law to hurt a movement, he is ignorant on the issue himself.
