Interview is in 2 weeks and I have plenty of time to prepare myself What do I do? I study Japanese and read books. I recently finished this one. I bought it thinking it would tell me more about Kamakura jidai... and it did... sorta. It's really more of a tour guide for the city of Kamakura. I picked up a few places I want to visit, a few festivals I'd like to attend, but other than that it was relatively scant on historical information. However, I do find it to be an excellent tour guide book. I look forward to using it on the ground one day.

It appears to be kindle only so I'm afraid I cannot offer an ISBN but I can offer a shopping link:
https://www.amazon.com/Kamakura-Historical-Guide-Francesco-Baldessari-ebook/dp/B07DL12GSV/ref=sr_1_2?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1537376699&sr=1-2&keywords=Kamakura",

I haven't worked in Alaska in 2 years but now I must request my former employer (and possibly landlord) write a recommendation for me. How?

Of course I'm continuing to study Japanese. "content": "So we're almost done reading our book on The Three Unifiers of Japan (Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Tokugawa Ieyasu). We're like 80% done and you know like 5-10% going to be references for all of the stuff in the book (though there are no direct citations). After than I'll probably have to spend another few days compiling notes, going back and putting stuff in my notebook from when I read away from my computer, and then we can start another book.

Then we might make a blog post. Through reading the book, I developed a great deal of interest in Matsudaira Hidetada (Tokugawa Ieyasu's father). This guy is certainly a paragon of virtue for his time and he has a tragic life story. Great respect. ",

"content": "Hideyoshi had been anxious to make himself shogun but his close friend, the court noble Imadegawa Harusui, had reminded him that only descendants of the Minamoto could aspire to that rank. Imadegawa informed him that the highest office to which a non-Minamoto could aspire was that of kampaku. However there was still a catch since the position was the exclusive preserve of the Northern Fujiwara. Before the emperor could nominate him, Hideyoshi would first need to be adopted into that family. Nobunaga’s friend, the Fujiwara court nobleman and former kampaku, Konoe Sakihisa, offered to adopt Hideyoshi and in 1585 the incumbent kampaku Nijo Akizane had stepped down to make room. There was, however, some resistance to the plan from Kujo Tanemichi, whose clan held notional headship over the other five Fujiwara families, and Tanemichi bravely attempted to block Hideyoshi’s candidacy. Having listened patiently to Kujo’s convoluted and elitist arguments at the Daitokuji Temple, Hideyoshi eventually grew tired and made it known that he would rather become the head of a completely new clan than be adopted into such a complicated family as the Fujiwara. In 1586, therefore, the emperor bestowed on Hideyoshi the new clan myoji of Toyotomi, meaning ‘Bountiful Minister’, and he was then finally confirmed as kampaku.

Chaplin, Danny.
