Prognostication is asking to be ridiculed when you are someday proven incorrect, but gives food for thought.

I will poison the well a little here before you read the article. I think that a Bitcoin ETF is a Very Bad Thing (TM) for Bitcoin. The Gold and Silver ETFs and the rigged London Fix gave The Powers That Be exactly the instruments they needed to manipulate the prices of those metals, and the PTB have used those instruments to crush gold and silver prices. The recently stronger dollar has only made prices worse. Now, The Winklevoss Twins are going to try to become billionaires while giving governments and banks exactly the tool they need to manipulate the price of Bitcoin, (admittedly, if they don't do it, someone else will). A pending Bitcoin ETF is the only thing I've seen which makes me nervous about the future of Bitcoin. Bitcoin has a very small market capitalization today, only $12.5 billion, which is pocket change in global markets. A Bitcoin ETF participated in by global players could easily swamp out the \"real\" $12.5 billion Bitcoin cap. Not only can the deep pockets of banks and governments use an ETF to set the price of Bitcoin, they can also perpetuate high volatility which will drive away from Bitcoin anyone except speculators and inside traders. No businessman will accept Bitcoin if the price varies up and down 3% from one day to the next.

Am I wrong about a Bitcoin ETF being a bad thing?
