The point of the debate was, facing the \"diversification\" and consequently \"rightification\" of the country, to determine what is the French national identity. But the two debaters were both Jewish. One of them, Daniel Cohn-Bendit, is a \"proud cosmopolite\", a staunch supporter of the European Union, and a self-avowed pedophile. The other one, Alain Finkielkraut, is said to be \"conservative\", but really he is advocating for an assimilationist program. He doesn't question the necessity of the \"melting pot\"; he just wishes the Muslims would \"assimilate\", and by that he means, drop their ethnic/religious traditions and, most importantly, stop being such awful \"anti-Semites\" (Muslims are generally anti-Zionist—for tribalistic reasons—, but they preach—for the same reasons—multiculturalism in France).<br />At one point in the debate, a \"French Muslim\" woman intervened. She whined about \"racism\"—of course against *her* community—and \"Islamophobia\". The woman was member of the anti-White far-left movement \"Les Indègnes de la République\" (\"The Indigenous [by \"indigenous\" they mean, the non-natives] of the Republic\").<br />There were two other noteworthy elements during the \"debate\": (1) The two Jews exchanged words in Hebrews live on an important discussion on the *French* national identity (the presenter had to intervene jokingly: \"if we bother you... we can withdraw\") and (2), at the end, two persons were charged to \"evaluate the public opinion\"—one was named \"Karim\", the other one \"Levy\".<br />So the whole thing was a joke, an abject joke.
