I've never actually seen anyone saying they think games like Depression Quest are in and of themselves actual threats to other games.<br />The attitude that I've actually heard, and agree with, is that it was the special treatment that some subjects and people were getting from the gaming media, that was potentially going to threaten the other games that we like. That's why people like Sarkeesian and Quinn were getting a lot of hate. They were given massively privileged voices in the games industry and it wasn't remotely based on merit. It seemed to be based entirely on their politics just coincidentally aligning with a particular clique in the games media.<br />If it was an actual level playing field and Depression Quest and Tropes VS Women were given the equivalent amount of exposure as equivalent subjects from different ideologies were given (relative to their popularity with the audience), so they just had to earn their influence on merit like everyone else does, I don't think many people would've had a problem with either.<br />But that's not remotely what's happened. They sent hate messages to him and his family and basically just harassed the poor guy without bothering to hear his side of the story or taking into consideration that he had a disorder which he couldn’t control. Several individuals who knew the guy in person messaged Laura, asking her to take the post down, explaining that the guy was mentally challenged. She didn’t care. She was Internet famous, and that’s all that really mattered to her.\"<br />On the other hand as someone who has been diagnosed by at least one dr. as being on the autism spectrum I do not entirely agree with the implication that autists do not have any form of self control. But then again, if it's true that I have it I'm a high functioning autist. Mostly, I think I tend to miss subtle social cues in real life causing me to not really interact with anyone very much. I tend to just assume no one would give me the time of day so I don't bother.<br />I certainly don't go around asking for high fives. :P.. and then again the spectrum is so vast that it's not just one thing... nor does every one on it exhibit the same symptoms or behaviors.<br />If people on the internet go after this woman (like I have seen some people post her handle and say \"let's get to work\") they are no better than she is. This shit stinks no matter what side it comes from.<br />Also this is a good comment:<br />\"Lara Wilson Reporting purely facts, sure, thats not slander... But the implication that this person was \"going out of his way to intimidate women\", \"attempted to take up as much personal space as he could\", \"treating women as sexual objects\" and \"hand hovered very close to a womans breast\", all of these are implying an unlawful intent, which is Slander, By Legal Definition<br />n. oral defamation, in which someone tells one or more persons an untruth about another, which untruth will harm the reputation of the person defamed. Slander is a civil wrong (tort) and can be the basis for a lawsuit<br />Because you cannot prove intent, and people are innocent until proven guilty, implying things like \"This person intended to grab a womans breast\" or \"This person was trying to intimidate women\" with no evidence is literally slander.\"<br />This is something many of us are OK with doing particularly on the internet. I like how it looks although it was kind of annoying to put together. <br /><br />At one point I even had the legs inverted and had to take it all apart again and start over. :P <br /><br />The light strips that I ordered seperately where also being annoying too with their adhesive. I ended up having to use duct tape to fasten the end of the light strip because of the weight the power adaptor was putting on that end.<br /><br />The final thing I need to do is manage the wires underneath. She seems to not realize that at the time that Women couldn't vote many men could not vote either... at the time 3/4 men could not vote either.<br />It was mostly the wealthy who could. Also, suffrage gained Women the right to vote but not the duty to sign up for the draft which men have to do not only to vote but to get a drivers license and many other things. In fact may women where opposed to the idea because they where afraid they would end up having to sign up for selective service which I'll have to admit is a concern. But this ended up creating two classes of citizen.<br />In other words in the past in regards to the vote it was Universal Suffrage that was a big thing being fought for.<br />I do give her props for the fact that she acknowledged that the current wave was born out of the most radical parts of the second. It's a concept that I have heard of as the overton window. Over time this window shifts where things that where once considered radical are now moderate. They certainly got the look and feel down. I'm not sure I'm feeling the one clip where the other lady asks Kusanagi \"what are you?\" though.<br />I certainly like the minimalist music and the one clip with the cybernetic geisha walking down the hallway.<br />I actually don't mind ScarJo as Kusanagi much... and I do think she looks good at least. Like, a pretty dang good fit visually speaking.
