But I have an affinity for Germanic religion because that's the preponderance of my ancestry and I think blood is a critically important part of religion.

I rejected Christianity at a young age, for all the usual reasons, mostly ethical and epistemological. I am resistant to faith and to universal altruism, although I have acquired a respect for the importance of particular altruism, especially kinship altruism. He is an archetype of jolly, avuncular, goodwill and generosity, also of paternal judgement and reward/punishmemt. That is the wisdom and the example he embodies for us. So he teaches us moral lessons. His narrative and example influence attitudes and behaviors. There may not be a literal Santa Claus, residing at the literal North Pole. But he still does a lot of the things a literal Santa Claus would do. He makes millions of gifts appear every year under millions of trees, because he is also a metaperson, embodying the attitudes and behaviors of millions of people participating in the narrative and making it real, and they can also alter and evolve the narrative with their input and feedback, although the input of any individual in any particular direction, is small, and must be adopted by others in order to have any larger consequences.

Or there is the God Emperor Trump. He's also an archetype and memeplex and metaperson, defined by the collective attitudes and behaviors of all trumpists. But in this case there is a literal Donald Trump as well. They are not identical. Donald Trump is just a man, and fallible. Donald Trump can tap into the God Emperor memeplex, influence it, shape it, but also channel it, be influenced by it, be shaped by it, give voice to the voiceless masses of forgotten people who the metaperson represents and consists of. When he is channeling the God Emperor, Donald Trump becomes the God Emperor. He becomes more than merely a man. (Someone else in fairly recent history did this even better.)

I like Germanic mythology for the ethos and the aesthetics and the wisdom. It's true that our knowledge of the mythology and practice is fragmentary, and can only be partially recontructed. But it has a built in \"reset\" switch, the Ragnarok myth. I believe we are living in the twilight of the gods. The old gods are dead or dying. A time of darkness and struggle and death is upon us. But the myths foretell of survivors, not only men, but gods, a new pantheon: Magni and Modi to replace Thor. Vidar to replace Odin. And others. Gods of war and vengeance, justice and wisdom. (The old goddesses mostly survive. It is the world of men that changes, and therefore the gods of men. The world of women, and their goddesses, remain as they were.) The mythology of the new gods is yet to be written. The ancients had only vague knowledge of them. But we can write it. With our words and with our deeds. We can channel the gods and what we, and they, become, shall be the new faith, the new practice, the new religion of our people. What we reconstruct of the old will inform the new, but the two will be distinct.

Hail victory.\"

#pagan #paganism #criticalthinking #religion #Propertarianism #wisdom",

"content": "What is Propertarianism and why am I sharing it with you?\n\nPropertarianism stems from and builds on Han-Herman Hoppe's Libertarian work. A significant difference is the style of language used: a scientific, empirical approach of the Anglo tradition (rather than Hoppe's German style of rational justification)\n\nSecondly, Propertarianism operates according to a well defined epistemology; it has a strong basis for discovering truth (the scientific method, but with extra steps). The short version: there are many ways to make mistakes, but not an innumerable number of ways. We can protect against error if we subject our ideas to the full gauntlet of scrutiny (as opposed to science as typically practiced, which seeks sufficient support in order to merely JUSTIFY a pre conceived position)\n\nMore posts on Propertarianism to come. \nhttps://propertarianism.com/2018/03/29/propertarianism-core-concepts-by-eli-harman/",
