It seems that this particular formulation of a structured-argument-organizing-thing would be relatively easy to implement in terms of code; perhaps \"hubs\" could be just like \"groups\" but have this argument tree thing instead of a timeline of posts, and it could have its own tab on the sidebar.<br />Maybe it could work as follows: users join a hub and can see the argument structure, reasons and objections and the sub-reasons and sub-objections for each, and anyone could post a new reason or objection anywhere on the structure, and users could vote on which have the best argument (maybe only factor upvotes into the \"best-ness\" score otherwise there would be spiteful downvoting the other side's arguments to screw up the system). The best arguments could appear most prominently in their \"branch\" of the tree so more people can see and discuss them. Also, maybe allow users to flag duplicate reasons/objections for merging with the chronologically first instance of that idea.<br />I think this will help promote rational debate because anyone could jump into the hub and add their new opinion or refine existing ones.
