Let's see, since last August, business was good right up until November 18th. That night, one of the idiots I rented a room to was smoking in bed and lit the house on fire. My landlord has been a saint this whole time, maintaining my lease as standing, without asking for more rent. His insurance company, the renovation company, and abatement company(yes they found asbestos), have likewise bent over backwards to help any way they can. The city on the other hand. Well,... it's now February 26th, and the whole process of rebuilding the house and getting life in order has been stalled. All the city has to do is sign a fucking piece of paper. A permit that has been applied for, and approved, so that renovations can legally start. After 3 months, the city civil servant cock smokers have neglected to sign said piece of paper, leaving me homeless and out of work the whole time, since my shop, tools and supplies are locked up in the remaining half of a scorched ruin. When it finally came to a head, this week the landlord, his insurance company, the reno and abatement teams all ganged up on the city and are currently in the process of suing the civil service cock suckers for incompetence, due to the fact that the building has been damaged further from inclement weather while they sat on their collective bargaining asses with their allegorical thumbs firmly stuck therein. The saintly companies and the land lord have since bypassed the city's part in my personal hell, by devising a waiver against liability, that I can sign, so I'm at least legally allowed to enter the building remains and retrieve the remains of my livelihood. They're even going to provide PPE for myself and any intrepid helpers I might gather to have on hand for the retrieval. When and if the building is back to its former glory, I'm even offered to continue my lease exactly as it was before. In the mean time myself and my loved one have been residing in the inlaws' (her parents') spare room and taking up their space, making their lives more difficult, and turning down at least one or two potential customers a month due to a lack of ability to do anything resembling work what with no tools to hand to work with. With my savings almost at an end, getting my machines back will be a godsend, and I'll have the shop up and running in a friend's warehouse/barn within the month. The entire process of renovations should take no more than 3 months total. It's now been 3 months total and the only thing that's happened is a vivid display of bureaucratic incompetence on behalf of the city civil service(insert cock joke here), meaning at least another 3 months of actual work going into the building before it's done and likely longer now what with the water damage from the aforementioned inclement weather. (Read rain for those outside of the Vancouver area, and the expected week or so of snow we get annually) Which means, if the permit is issued today, the building will have been empty for at least half a year. That costs everybody both money and time, except of course the city civil service. With the added threat of legal action against them now, maybe they'll actually take the allegorical thumbs out of their collective proverbial asses and actually do the job our taxes pay them way more than they're worth to do, but I'm not getting my hopes up.", "to": [ "https://www.w3.org/ns/activitystreams#Public" ], "cc": [ "https://www.minds.com/api/activitypub/users/618252312594358277/followers" ], "tag": [], "url": "https://www.minds.com/newsfeed/1212204276301774848", "published": "2021-02-27T01:07:01+00:00", "source": { "content": "again with several months between posts,...
