"content": "Most people agree that large decisions affecting millions of people should be carefully decided and most agree that using a smaller sample size is a good way to gauge overall effectiveness for the larger group. <br /><br />The states of Alabama and Georgia seem like a small enough sample size to represent America as a whole imo. Others can disagree but those are some fairly large states. They also rely heavily on agriculture as a source of revenue as well as construction.<br /><br />In 2014 they enacted the harshest anti-immigrant laws of anywhere in the country. Within 2 years the laws have already been appealed due to complaints from farmers and company owners as well as other industries that hired undocumented immigrants seasonally. Not only were these complaints warranted but it cost the state conservatively $2.5 billion/yr but experts say in reality it was about $10.8 billion a year in lost revenue. <br /><br />Farmers couldn't even find enough documented workers to grow their entire crops with some farmers only planting half their fields and still making employees work 12 hour days. Many of the new hires were inexperienced with farm life or farm equipment costing valuable time training. After the fact of taking time to train people most didn't last the entire growing season because of strenuous labor. Farmers say that they just didn't want to put in the work required to get the job done. <br /><br />This is the same across the board with farmers, construction workers, and other fields undocumented workers usually choose to make their livelihoods. American workers just have better options even in our drowning economy and unemployment. While illegal immigrants are desperate and thankful for the chance to work anywhere in nearly any circumstances. <br /><br />This underground illegal economy is not the problem some presidential elects make it out to be. Immigrants stimulate the economy by providing low cost labor saving American farm and business owners cash that they spend here in America. <br /><br />Yes, they do take their earned income and go across the border but the /- of their activities is still a net positive for America as a whole as Alabama and Georgia found out billions of dollars too late. <br /><br />You also may think they are a burden because being undocumented they don't pay income taxes. However the same reason they don't pay income taxes is the same reason they can't get tax subsidies like government assistance and government healthcare or insurance. <br /><br />So this coming election just remember that building a wall to keep the illegals out is a stupid idea in every aspect.
