Now that restaurants here are asking for \"vaccine passports\", I am putting my home cooking on my table, saving tons of money, and not supporting the greedy restaurants, which in my eyes, have eroded away at people's knowledge of how to feed ourselves on our own terms.<br /><br />Cooking doesn’t have to be complicated, but I like copying their food, and comparing how much it would have costed me. This bagel with an \"unpopped\" egg inside, lathered in peanut butter and orange marmalade. I like breaking the yolk and dipping the whole bagel in it. A real feast that I’d get some weird stares from in any dining room. I can make a smile as big as I want at home. <br /><br />This would probably cost around 13$. They'd put a fancy honey or chocolate drizzle on top just to make you feel special about it.<br />And then taxes, because the government even wants a cut of what you eat. <br />And then tips, because you need to feel bad if you don’t give a few dollars for the poor underpaid waiters and waitresses that restaurant owners seemingly can’t pay like every other employee, despite their BMW, Mercedes and fancy mansions. <br />Turns pretty quickly into 20$. <br />Add tea (not included), and it’s 23$ on your receipt. <br /><br />This is a simple, meaningful, and rewarding little act of rebellion, against all this catering and deprecation of our means of feeding ourselves, that I enjoy doing. <br /><br />Whether a soup, a stew, a sandwich, a salad, or just a simple can of beans, this is me saying \"I don’t like this industry, and I want it to perish for what it's done to our self-sufficiency.\" It doesn’t need to be complicated.
