"content": "Why don't I care about crypto-currency?<br />Despite the many lauded benefits over fiat, 'paper' currencies, the truth is, crypto-currency has the same inherent and 'deadly' flaw as 'state' issued currency: it isn't really in your possession. <br /><br />'State' currency can come in paper form, sure, but the truth is that it is just numbers on a server somewhere. But whether cash or debit or credit currency, it isn't yours. You don't really possess the 'value' that is the currency. You have claim to the PROXY of the 'value' claimed backs the currency. And it is a tenuous claim at best. <br /><br />Crypto-currency is, similarly, not truly possessed by you. While I won't argue whether or not your claim to its value is superior to your claim to 'state' currencies' values, the simple fact is that you do not possess crypto-currency, likely not even in the form of a paper I.O.U. such as the cash we are given to represent 'state' currency. <br /><br />At the end of the day, both are numbers on a server somewhere. And while you can lend, trade, give, or 'cash' in both of them due to your privilege of claim to them, until you part with them for something of real value, they have no real value and they can easily be taken from you with the flick of a switch thousands of miles away. <br /><br />Of course, one could argue that, since crypto-currency is almost exclusively digital, in a way, 'state' currency is better because you can convert it into paper you can possess and can't be taken from you so easily. However, considering the devaluation of 'state' currencies and the lack of any real value backing to them, this 'benefit' of cash over crypto-currency is nearly irrelevant. <br /><br />My opinion? Trade those numbers, or that cash, for value. Let someone else have the faux-existent value of 'currencies' and invest in your life, land, defense, et cetera. <br /><br />Seeds. <br />Guns. <br />Ammo. <br />Land. <br />Self-sustainability. <br /><br />These are things with true, universal, value. <br />Hell, even silver. Fuck gold. Gold is impractical relative to silver(and artificially over-valued) and, in a 'post-currency' or 'post-state' world, few would have use for it. Silver, however, has long been the value of labor and has long been undervalued by the markets despite the excessive use and trashing of the precious metal. It has properties beyond simply being shiny or conductive. <br /><br />My point? <br /><br />Crypto-currencies are fine, if you like them. Personally? If I had any, I'd sell or trade it in order to acquire actual, valuable, practical, assets. Just as I do with 'state' currency. ",
