In this book, Stephenson explores a world where virtual reality is a universe of it’s own where humans directly plug in and experience full immersion into a virtual dimension known as “the metaverse.” His book provides a great framework for the new augmented reality technology we are watching come to life today. Magic Leap is at the front of actualizing Stephenson’s conception of a true metaverse, and he joined the company as a future consultant.

Bringing Stephenson in on the project as a visionary, and someone who fully explored the ideas before the technology was available was a very smart move in this company’s history.
