Epistemology is the branch of philosophy concerned with the theory of knowledge. Obviously \"what is\" and \"how we know what is\" are interdependent. This interdependent relationship exists in a non-static or fluid environment. This interdependent relationship in a fluid environment creates an evolutionary paradigm. To illustrate please consider the relationship between the hare and the lynx. These two species are interdependent and co-evolve. The lynx feeds primarily on the hare and the hare depends on the lynx to control its population. The same evolutionary relationship exists between metaphysics and epistemology. This relationship has profound implications for truth. If we are to gain any insight into those implications we ought to consider how biological evolution works and apply what we've learned from that field of study. Truth is not so much a question of being an absolute but is instead a matter of fitness. As in biology there are some attributes that so fundamental that all known life has incorporated them and they have become fixed. Those attributes have become universal to the best of our knowledge. Likewise there are attributes that have appeared in only one species or even to only a few individuals of a species. Fitness exists on a bell shaped distribution curve. I suspect it is the same with truth propositions. There are truth propositions that are or will almost always be true. And there are truth propositions that are rarely or will almost never be true. The great bulk of truth propositions will like in the center of the distribution curve. They will be fit in some applications and unfit in other applications.
