It emerged from her observations while covering the trial of Adolf Eichmann, a key figure in the logistical planning and execution of the Holocaust.<br />Contrary to the widespread belief that perpetrators of such horrific crimes must be monstrous, sadistic, or driven by extreme ideological hatred, Arendt found Eichmann to be a rather ordinary, even bland, bureaucrat.
