"content": "I recently watched Hypernormalisation by Alan Curtis, rather long but interesting BBC documentary. The whole idea is to explain today's world through the concept of \"hypernormalisation\" or the phenomenon in decaying 1980s USSR, when most of the Nomenklatura knew and most of the people felt that the Communist system was disastrously inefficient, yet everyone kept going on as usual. Curtis has an interesting idea of drawing paralells between those times and today's Western world, yet those paralells weren't portrayed or described in particularly convincing manner. Curtis also seems be obsessed with Assad family, and names Bashar's father Hafez al Assad as the source of all American (and other nation's) troubles in the Middle East. Being made in 2016 before the Trump's win and its impact didn't help either. Despite that and despite rather long running time (2hrs 43 min) I would recommend it to all those who like political documentaries. ",
