It is common for us to understand that for example, Yoga, is a spiritual practice that requires Discipline, training, practice, and proper execution to achieve any benefit from it. Drumming is no Different. That is not to say a person could not develop their own system that could achieve the same benefits as the existing types of Yoga, it is simply time that makes this an undesirable decision. We have proven systems in Yoga. Just as in drumming, their are proven systems from cultures across the world for the specific drums they developed. I have been to the drum circles, and I know all too well that many people are uncomfortable, self-conscious, and not sure what to do. Most obviously when it comes to rhythmic patterns that are unfamiliar to western ears, drum circle's generally have trouble playing anything outside standard 4 beats per bar timing.<br /><br /> Drumming changed my life in many beneficial ways, it helped me to develop focus, and discipline, balance in self, and in many others ways, as any practice can when performed as part of spiritual growth. Drumming has created much joy for me, as well as for others when I am able to pass on that knowledge, and see the joy it creates in them.<br /><br /> Everyone has a heart beat, and everyone that wants to can learn to drum. Rhythm is a pattern of vibration and frequency, and all things in this universe vibrate, and have a frequency. <br /><br /> This is a call to anyone who feels they are not able to express themselves they way they would like to. If you are really passionate about drumming, then I am here willing to give you my time and share with you all that I have learned. <br /><br /> One on One mentor-ship has been a fundamental part of my learning. Everyone learns at different speeds, leaving anyone behind to me is not acceptable. One on One lessons, combined with times of sharing, and interacting with other disciplined practitioners is the most effective way to grow in any spiritual discipline. And it is all time that is enjoyed.<br /><br /> I wish to give my time to those who are interested in being part of the Discipline of Drumming. I will charge for my time as I must survive in this world, and have the things I need to continue to provide benefits for the communities which I am involved with. However, no one who is respectful, honest, and willing to put in the effort will ever be turned away.<br /><br /> About me. I have loved music since I was a child, I used to make little rhythms in my head to go along with the music I was listening to. I would use these rhythms to dance to music in my own way, I started with Djembe when I was fairly young and sought out many teachers. I have lived in Peru, and Cuba, studying Afro-Peruvian, Cuban rhythms respectively. I have done workshops, facilitated drum circles for rehab clinics, at risk youth, and at educational schools. I have also drummed for numerous local cultural groups, and dancers including Kesseke Yeo, Jacky Ensombe, Kathara, and community dance groups. Any group or community that I am currently a part of may be available for any of my students to attend with me as well, no cost. (instructor permitting) <br /><br />I teach in the method of Oral tradition, which is simple and intuitive.
