"content": "A while back we announced that, as an experiment, Engagement Rewards calculations would subtract downvotes from engagement scores.<br /><br />Tomorrow, this changes back -- downvotes will no longer be part of the engagement score calculation.<br /><br />We received feedback that the change resulted in some people being less likely to downvote to indicate disagreement (because they didn't want to hit your wallet, just to disagree), and that it seemed to increase retaliatory downvotes -- neither of which are results we were aiming for.<br /><br />Thanks for your participation in this experiment, and thanks for the feedback 🤙",

"content": "We want to give some clarity with regards to what is and isn't allowed on Minds when it comes to sending MINDS tokens to other users.<br /><br />The short version is: They're your tokens, you can spend them however you'd like! There are no limits on the number of tokens you can send, or how often you send them. We've seen some rumors that there's a limit on the number of tokens that can be sent at once, and we want to clarify: There is no limit.<br /><br />The only exchange restrictions when it comes to tokens on Minds are these:<br /><br />(1) Due to legal compliance limitations, users cannot sell off-chain tokens on Minds. Minds is an app where you can earn and spend the tokens. But not sell them; that would inadvertently make us a crypto exchange, which comes with different regulatory expectations that don't align with what Minds actually is.<br /><br />(2) You can't use tokens (or otherwise use Minds) to do illegal things, e.g. buy and sell illegal drugs. Learn more in our terms of service: <a href=\"https://www.minds.com/p/terms\" target=\"_blank\">https://www.minds.com/p/terms</a><br /><br />(3) If your tokens are acquired legitimately – through rewards, as tips, or by purchasing them through legit sources – that's it! Send any amount of MINDS tokens as tips, spend on services, transfer from one account to another, etc. But tokens that are acquired illegitimately (e.g. by using bots to manipulate the rewards system or buying tokens from other users against Minds policy) will trigger red flags when they're transferred onto the Ethereum blockchain (on-chain), and the transfer will be declined.<br /><br />Our heuristics for identifying illegitimate tokens are always improving, but still vulnerable to mistakes. If your transfer of MINDS tokens from off-chain to on-chain is mistakenly declined, appeal the action. As long as you're not (1) buying or selling tokens with other users, (2) doing illegal things, or (3) receiving illegitimate tokens, you're in the clear and we'll sort things out. We'll keep improving our detection heuristics to bring the number of mistaken actions as close to zero as possible.<br /><br />Hopefully that gives clarity to how you can use tokens on Minds.
