"content": "I thought I would share this with you all I am a huge admirer of the work's of author Mark Bando he is the world's leading historian when it comes to the history of the 101st Airborne Division of WWII. <br /><br />\"I learned early in my research that the WWII 101st Airborne Division contained some colorful charaters. In 1970, former Lt Jim Nye told me that one of his men jumped into Normandy armed with a crossbow. It was a night jump and he wanted to be able to kill silently in the moonlight.<br />The moon went in and out from behind the clouds on D-day night, making things alternately pitch dark and at other times, well illuminated.<br />This is a pic of the trooper from Item Co. 506th, who bought the crossbow at an English curio shop and restored it to full power, by adding modern components. This trooper allegedly ran with organised crime characters in civilian life and he died in a mysterious motorcycle accident, less than a decade after WWII ended. Incidentally, he was also reported to have 3 wives\". ",

"content": "Sadly another Eagle has left us<br />Jim Pee Wee Martin<br />G Co 506th PIR 101st Airborne Division<br /><br />A few years ago I had the pleasure and absolute honour to spend time with Jim at Colonel Sink's CP in Angoville he talked about his experiences through out the war he especially enjoyed his time at Ramsbury, England before D Day. Jim I wish you blue skies and soft landings on your final jump god bless you.ðŠĶð",
