We are still waiting for someone to fix the well. I have had a company tell me we were next on the list for 6 weeks!<br /><br />Spent the morning on the phone trying to find someone to help us out. Was only able to talk to 2 people, everyone else ... \"Leave a message\". The two people I talked to one said \" I will pass the information on and he will call you back. The other one, after literally begging for them to come out. We have finally passed our framing 2 inspection which means we have a green light from the county government to finish our cabin renovation.<br /><br /><a class=\"u-url mention\" href=\"https://www.minds.com/mrsniche\" target=\"_blank\">@mrsniche</a> and I are getting ready for a flurry of activity and sweat. Our next milestone will be getting our indoor plumbing functioning. Once that happens, we will be able to spend our weekends working at the homestead.<br /><br />It is extremely difficult to be productive when you have a daily 3-hour commute. Not to mention the costs when you consider the amount of fuel needed for the commute. When we can arrive on Friday evening and spend the entire day Saturday working. Then spend Saturday night and return to the matrix on Sunday we can accomplish so much more. <br /><br />In addition, once the indoor plumbing is functioning, we will have electricity again which will allow us to have an internet connection at the homestead. With internet I can work from \"home\" a couple of days per week which gives me even more time to work at the homestead.<br /><br />If all goes well, we should have plumbing within the next 2 weeks, largely dependent on getting scheduled with the plumber and electrician.<br /><br />In some respects, I sincerely regret getting a building permit for the renovation. It has cost more than I ever imagined, not only in dollars spent but in time. Thats what I get for trying to follow the rules, perhaps I should have been a little more rebellious.<br /><br />All in all, with the impending renewal of Spring just around the corner. And the progress at the homestead it looks like 2025 will be a banner year.<br /><br />Looking forward to the sweat, aches, callouses, and all that goes with it. (Does that sound strange coming from a 63-year-old retired Paramedic Instructor?)",

Mrs. Niche will not be far behind in her transition to retirement.<br /><br />We are waiting for building and codes to come out and do our next inspection. If we pass our inspection, we will be able to put up drywall, ceiling and floors as well as finish water and electricity.<br /><br />Planning and limited prep work have already started for this year’s garden. This will mark the first year that we will be able to tend the garden daily. Previously we had to re-enter the matrix to work during the week and do all our farm chores on the weekend.<br /><br />We have been reading everyone’s messages but not posting much. As we draw nearer to retirement, we will devote more time to staying involved in social media.<br /><br />",

Just a beautiful weekend at the homestead.<br /><br />Saturday, we were able to get in several hours of sweat, blisters, and sore muscles. After locking all the tools in the barn, we began walking back to the cabin and just had to pause and admire all that God has provided.<br /><br />After a full day it is satisfying to just take a moment, and let it soak in.<br />",

We saw the first \"shells\" Monday and are now hearing them and seeing more of them.<br /><br />Currently waiting for the reported arrival of severe weather, hoping they got the forecast wrong but watching for it for the next couple of days.<br /><br />This weekend's forecast is for a cooling trend with high temperatures in the low 70's with lows in the low 50's and only a 10% chance of rain.<br /><br />We are hoping everyone stays safe through this stormy period.",

We saw the first \"shells\" Monday and are now hearing them and seeing more of them.\n\nCurrently waiting for the reported arrival of severe weather, hoping they got the forecast wrong but watching for it for the next couple of days.\n\nThis weekend's forecast is for a cooling trend with high temperatures in the low 70's with lows in the low 50's and only a 10% chance of rain.\n\nWe are hoping everyone stays safe through this stormy period.",

In the coming year we hope to be finishing up building and landscaping. We have a variety of flowers around the cabin that we will be relocating including Day Lillies, Tulips, and Iris.<br /><br />This particular Iris has caught my attention and I want to know if anyone knows the name of this particular variety?",
