The Fire is both the ritual bonfire and the element of Heat, called Tapas, which burns up Karmic impurities. This concept of Purification is reiterated with the Symbolism of Churning Milk to make butter. Through the act of Churning, one transforms, the milk into Ghee, the Ghee itself is Golden in color, just like the Fire, and just like the Sun.
