The older you get the better you'd understand what I'm saying.<br /><br />There are many stresses you should avoid in life but the most important are the ones you cannot control. For example;<br /><br />1. Stress about growing old or aging. <br /><br />This is so futile. Anyone who stresses over his age or the fact that he is getting older is unreasonable. It is an added but completely unnecessary stress. It's taking a good amount of energy from you. Energy that you need for other pursuits and goals. <br /><br />Time must pass. Worrying about your age is akin to worrying about the passing of time. How ridiculous is that?<br /><br />2. Stress about death or dying.<br /><br />You will die one day. So will I. Each day that passes by draws you closer to your appointed day. Whether it is at age 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 or 100, it is CERTAIN. <br /><br />In fact nothing in life is as certain as death. You don't need to waste useful energy stressing over dying. Prepare for it and live your life. Jesus came to deliver us not from death but from the FEAR of dying (Hebrews 2:15).<br /><br />3. Stressing about the behavior or attitude of others.<br /><br />You cannot control the way people behave towards you or their attitude. The way they speak to you and how they respond or react to you. It is futile to stress over this. <br /><br />You could say something completely harmless and in jest and someone would be offended. Just move on. Don't lose your sleep over it. It is outside of your control. People will be who they are regardless of your goodness. <br /><br />Remember that the same crowd Jesus healed, fed and taught later said \"Crucify Him\". <br /><br />4. Stressing about the past and past mistakes. <br /><br />Unless you have a Time Travel Machine that can defy the space-time continuum, let go of the past. No, you cannot unring the bell. You cannot unsing the song. You cannot unspeak the words. You cannot un-cum the cum. You cannot un-conceive the child. You cannot take back your anger. You cannot undo the deed. It's all done. Move on! It's gone. Forever!! <br /><br />Imagine trying to put the toothpaste back into the tube after pressing it out. You'd be frustrated. That's how it feels when you are always wishing and worrying about the past. That's why you should think hard and twice before saying a word or doing anything because you are essentially creating your past TODAY. <br /><br />Embrace your mistakes and mess-ups. LEARN from them. Laugh at yourself sometimes and move on gallantly. Don't take yourself too seriously, that way moving on becomes easy.<br /><br />5. Stressing over your future is a waste of useful energy because you cannot change your future like that. Our focus should be on TODAY rather than TOMORROW because only TODAY is under our control. <br /><br />Actually, TODAY was the FUTURE we saw YESTERDAY. Pause and think about that for a second. So when we prioritise TODAY we are really prioritising our FUTURE.
