White Supremacist.<br />There are a lot of titles out there, and there are a lot of people who fit those titles out there. What’s hard is deciding who deserves the titles, and the first difficulty is agreeing on a definition of each. This is what ive come up with, I'm curious about differences of opinin<br /><br />Fascist:<br />The combination of state, corporate and nationalistic power. I think this title can rightly be thrown around for just about anyone in the states, because as far as I can tell, state and corporate powers are incredibly linked, and Trump’s in your face nationalism was actually less effective in promoting American nationalist interests than Obama’s. The Libyan war, Syrian civil war support, expansion of drone operations across the world, the TPP trade agreement were Obama’s big nationalist pushes, while most of Trump’s “nationalism” was actually isolationism, cutting American funding for American supported groups around the world, reducing troop numbers, trying to end the Afghanistan war. He was a bully, publicly trashed our allies over trivial matters, and cozied up to authoritarian leaders. This was stupid, not nationalism. I think a strong argument can be made that the Biden administration is cozier with the military than the Trump administration was. If someone calls Biden a fascist, I don’t think I have a good argument to rebut them<br /><br />Nazi:<br />A person who believes in the genetic dominance of the Aryan race, and that undesireable people should be executed. <br />This is the most overused title I think, and it is harmful the amount it is used. I have seen people call Bush, Obama, Trump and now Biden Nazis, and it’s ridiculous. No one has called for genocide. No one has called for ethnic cleansing. Yes, some were racist, authoritarian, and even sadistic, but not one of them has gone to the level of Orban in Hungary or Erdogan in Turkey by actually staying in power longer than they were originally supposed to. We have been remarkably lucky that a true authoritarian with genocidal intent, a true nazi, has not ascended to the presidency in our modern age, and by calling those we don’t like Nazis, it cheapens the term, so when one does come around reality can’t be differentiated from hyperbole<br /><br />Authoritarian:<br />A leader seeking to expand the influence of the executive branch, often using force to those ends.<br />Every president we’ve had has been an authoritarian in some sense. Authoritarianism is a spectrum more than an ideology, being honest that your leader of choice probably does have authoritarian tendencies is a start, and allows comparison instead of namecalling.<br />Righties love to say how authoritarian the democrat presidents have been, the lefties love to say how authoritarian the republican presidents have been. They both have been in different ways. Trump had plainclothes feds snatch people off the streets of Portland in unmarked cars; Biden has de-facto imposed military law in the capitol area of DC. Obama greatly expanded deportations. Bush passed the patriot act (with democrat support). Im sure you can keep finding examples, some worse than others.<br /><br />White Supremacist:<br />I don’t really know what this means. I see the term thrown around in so many different ways, from someone who literally believes in the genetic superiority of whites, to someone who supports someone who supports racist policies. Unlike nazi, there’s no concrete thing you can point to that defines white supremacy. Is it a spectrum, or an all in thing? I don’t know that either. What do you think?",
