"content": "An issue with insecurity and anxiety is often an issue with principles.<br /><br />If you find yourself struggling with every decision, or becoming paralyzed trying to figure out which options won’t make people mad at you, do this instead:<br /><br />Make a list of 3-5 principles you want to embody. That you’d be embarrassed if people said you don’t have.<br />Courage<br />Compassion<br />Honesty<br />Integrity<br /><br />When a decision arises, don’t ask what will make people not hate you. Ask which principle applies. Ask how that principle would be best shown. Then do that.<br /><br />You can even ask for a few seconds to think about it. No person of quality is going to be angry if you explain “I am trying to figure out the most honest response, please give me a few seconds to think.”<br /><br />And if they’re angry at your eventual answer or choice, they’re actually angry at your principle.<br /><br />This is a great litmus test for quality people versus toxic ones. Quality people may not like your answer based on principles but they’ll respect it. They’ll trust you more, even if your principles was against their interests this time. Toxic people will screech and demand you violate your principles.<br /><br />But at the end of the day, this is the only way to respect yourself and kill insecurity. ",
