"content": "I'll try not to make it a habit to post my takes, but here goes. There's a point in the controversy going on in minds that needs to be addressed but I haven't seen anybody take it on. If you have, let me know in the comments.

It involves axiomatic assumptions on the part of those arguing, and that's how loli, and therefore how CP, is defined- more to the point, how the moral crusaders responsible for the bans define it.

The broad assumption by the people in favor of the bans seems to be that loli is, and will remain, defined solely as \"pornographic material depicting children being exploited or abused.\" I recall many Americans, myself included, made a similar assumption about how \"racism\" would stay defined as \"actual prejudice against people on the basis of their race.\"

This assumption was proven woefully incorrect, as anyone who's seen the outrage concerning how \"Being kind to dogs\" is racist and how depicting a character of slightly fairer skin tone than usual is racist can tell you.

The three characters pictured above have all been condemned for being loli and therefore being objectionable on the same level as CP. You'll notice I didn't say \"Porn of these characters\" was condemned as CP material, but the characters themselves have fallen under the umbrella on incredibly thin pretenses. Clearly, obscenity is not the defining factor.

The most understandable may be Gawr Gura, on the left. She got hit with the \"Loli\" sticker on the basis of her slight frame and short stature as a character. This is despite whatever's gleaned from the actress making it clear that she's an adult (has had other jobs, lives alone, her childhood stories clearly take place in the late 90s to early 2000s, etc.).

So the slight frame and short stature combined that might be MISTAKEN for a child is the defining line, right?

Wrong.

On the right is Iruru (or Ilulu, depending on how you translate it), who's been condemned as the Oppai loli, on the basis that she's way shorter than the average woman. She's also a dragon, so age becomes an irrelevant factor because of the \"3000 year old vampire loli\" argument, so the appearance is clearly the only relevant factor, but apparently bust size and physical development is not.

Okay, so it's the height, right?

Wrong.

In the center, you might've seen her around a lot, Uzaki-chan. The character is explicitly a college student, on the lower end of average height for a Japanese woman, and has very clearly gone through puberty with her breast size. Just about everything here should be fine, right?

Wrong.

She's too \"Youthful,\" on the basis of her eyes and her personality.

All of these were controversies that started on twitter over the characters themselves, with only a token mention of NSFW fanart made of them, if any mention at all. The characters needed not be part of lewd material at all- the potential that they MAY be was enough, and someone finding a single arbitrary characteristic that made them uncomfortable, regardless of other factors, was enough for them to be slapped with the label \"Loli,\" which is treated as synonymous with CP.

That's what I'm worried about happening on minds. I have no issue at all with real CP being taken down, but that's because it involves the actual abuse of children. I actually dislike a lot of loli art, but I've also seen things that I would've never called loli not only being referred to as such, but being EQUATED with CP, in much the same way that I would have never called \"Being kind to dogs\" racist, and never would have equated it with a Klan Lynching, and certainly not based on its \"Potential\" to lead to such an act.

I fear the definition has already expanded, especially because people already have equated the clearly-college-student-with-clearly-developed-big-boobs Uzaki Chan with footage of the sexual abuse of a five-year-old.

Do I think this will lead to Minds banning all art from the platform? I don't know. I'm not sure what to think. I never thought being nice to my dog would be racist, but here we are. I learned not to discount the possibility that the most sensitive, loudest voices on this platform will demand the most nonsensical things and be catered to by those in charge. I've already seen it happen elsewhere.

I'm not quite ready to pack my bags and leave, but the developments are not encouraging. Many of you may be quick to tell me \"Minds isn't Twitter,\" and I grant that. Maybe people here are more reasonable, but what I've seen isn't encouraging. I'm worried Minds is beginning to resemble Twitter in exactly the ways that drove me away from birdapp in the first place.

Sorry, rant over. If I do decide to leave, I'll let ya'll know where I'm going.",
