The answer is a laughable no, if you believe government is incompetent. How then can we think about wealth redistribution in such a way that A) Doesn't *take* from people while at the same time B) empowers the lower-middle class?<br /><br />Below is the beginning formation of just one solution which is part of a much bigger puzzle. <br /><br />Solution: The introduction of regulation which mandates for a small percentage of IPO shares ~ call them GP (general public) IPO Shares ~ to be exclusively available for purchase by low/middle income earning individuals up until date X. Institutional investors could offer to purchase those shares immediately at a higher price point if they believe the value of the GP IPO Shares to be of significant value from someone who is lower/middle income or those lower/middle income people could hold onto those IPO shares and participate in the market. After date X, if GP IPO Shares are not all sold then they can be redistributed proportionally to the institutional investors. <br /><br />How can we verify that low/middle income earners are the ones who receive these shares and the ones benefiting? One way is through blockchain technology like Ethereum with the use of smart contracts. <br /><br />One thing is certain. Why do I think this is a bad idea for the U.S when in my country we have a $15/hour min wage? It's because the U.S system will not be doing any type of scaling up to the $15/hour wage, and during a pandemic when small businesses have been crippled and destroyed by Covid-19 policies, how are those small businesses going to be able to compete with big box stores? I predict that they simply just won't. It's possible to work towards a $15/hour min wage, but to make a small business owner pay twice as much in a time where they have been knee-capped is a death sentence. Whatever Trumpism is, it is heavily cultural in nature and it is a miscalculation to believe it to be just a function of policy. <br /><br />The author says he’ll tell people that “ Trump is a bad man, he's an evil man, and he did evil things...” but Trump also never started any new wars, which I think for most people has to objectively be a good thing.
