Making ammunition from scratch is MUCH more difficult than making a gun from scratch. <br /><br />- Folks who build and maintain their own phreedom stash with basic home manufacturing are screwed once the ammo gets short. <br /><br />- some folks have decided to keep a black powder stash to give them some flexibility, but this has a million problems of it's own, the biggest being that you get one - six shots before your assailant takes your buttonhole virginity. And even then, you still have to keep a stash of caps, powder, and ball.<br /><br />- Decent ammunition is complex, uses 4+ unique sections per round, each with their own manufacturing process. This is a nightmare for micro-manufacturing and home manufacturing. <br /><br />- Clearly, if the Alphabet cartel gains control of ammunition manufacturing, they have started a timer.<br /><br />- \"there are millions and millions of rounds of ammunition in the US\". They wont last as long as you think during conflict. 7 million rounds were fire during the battle of Gettysburg alone.<br /><br />- Energy weapons are slowly becoming a viable option.
