It gets worse every day and there is seemingly no end to their influence despite their constant and repeated failures to draw money.<br /><br />Here's what that means to creative people: You're about to become very valuable.<br /><br />While modern storytelling has vacillated between a series of nonsensical mystery boxes featuring the Mary Sue Du jour and repeated attempts to harness the nostalgia of the past, there's audiences out there hungry as hell for entertainment that doesn't treat them like a sinner or an idiot. These people have money, and they want to give it to you.<br /><br />Within you is the story that will bring them back to that warm spot in their soul that has been long remained dormant. Whether its art, or literature, or games, or comedy, there's huge swaths of people out there clamoring for it. You see them on social media every day, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. They cry out for good material. All you have to do is sit down and grind that shit out. <br /><br />\"Fifty Shades of Grey\" was a fanfiction of \"Twilight,\" for fuck's sake. "content": "The thing that will finish the Coronavirus lockdowns is passive aggression. <br /><br />On a long enough time scale, we eventually wear a groove into the way we like to do things. Lockdowns and masks go against that groove. Right now social enforcement by low status people who have just found a tool to exercise power over others is already on the wain. Without the force of law behind it and the vaccination process ongoing, people are going to start asserting some of their freedoms back. Assertive isn’t the answer. It’s indifference that will fix things. <br /><br />For example, the next time you go into a store, leave your mask off, but keep it with you. Go about your day like a normal person. If no one objects, voila. One more brick in the wall for normalcy. If someone objects, apologize, put your mask on (take some time doing it) and crank up the sarcasm. “How could I forget something so crucial? You’re really saving lives here. I gotta say, it’s a shame that you’re being portrayed as a busybody on the internet. You’re practically a doctor yourself. Maybe even a Saint. Keep fighting the good fight.”<br /> <br />That’s all it takes.
