You may not have realized this, as they have made zero headlines once they reached DC, but it is still a thing. They are on the move now. Travelling to different cities in an attempt to bring awareness or some such. <br /><br />A quick note: I was a truck driver for 13 years. I drove cross country solo, in a team with my wife, and then became a school bus driver for 5 years after that. I've logged over a million safe miles; and wrote several papers regarding safety in the industry. All of the following statements are my own opinion based on my experience in the industry and understanding of the body politic. <br /><br />**Get's on soapbox**<br /><br />The American Freedom Convoy is now a joke. They went in with the threat of locking up the nation's capitol with a convoy that would destroy thoroughfare in and around DC. When they got there, they refused to go into the city proper, staying solely on the beltway, and only for a few hours each day. Albeit, they did travel very slowly. <br /><br />They were very organized; holding meetings every morning, working out what the plan was each day. The only problem is, each one of these plans involved minimizing the impact on the public. <br /><br />If the Canadian convoy did nothing, it showed that the real impact came from clogging up the Parliament and making it known they were there. Congress lives within a few blocks of their offices. They don't travel the beltway. The convoy did nothing to draw attention to what their stated goal was: an end to governmental tyranny. <br /><br />What did they accomplish? Well, they had a sit down with the usual suspect House members one week, where they aired their grievances, mind you, there were only a handful of Republicans that came, and each of them held little to no power in the House. The next week, they met with the usual suspect Senate members, and did the same thing...<br /><br />They were told by both groups that their issues would be addressed and they were sent on their way. And then they went. The ran around the beltway a few mor times, then buggered off to the rest of the country; believing they had saved the world. <br /><br />Aside from a few brief news reports; mostly on FOX, regarding the meetings with Congressional Republicans, nothing has been said about this. The truckers failed. They were unwilling to get arrested. They were unwilling to make themselves known. They were unwilling to cause any impact to DC.
