"content": "Today's internet censorship purge felt like a real inflection point. Not just for 'big tech' and not just for the US, but for the world. If free speech continues getting trampled in the US, then the further down it goes throughout the rest of the world. <br /><br />The mask is off. They will use the Capitol Hill event (and revisionism of the last 4 years) to justify deploying next level surveillance that will end up impacting ordinary Americans socially, financially, and mentally. Unfortunately, with this will come more extremism as well.<br /><br />Social media fragmentation was always up and down over the last few years, we saw it here on <a class=\"u-url mention\" href=\"https://www.minds.com/Minds\" target=\"_blank\">@Minds</a>. But this is it. This moment is what we've been building for. Decentralized online communities will now organically grow out of necessity. The censorship will only accelerate from here.<br /><br />In the long run, the key will be open-source code, along with community ownership and governance via crypto. <br /><br />It will be a 10+ year battle against big tech and big gov't, but open-source software will prevail in the end.",
