"content": "This woman is what could have been. A principled, level-headed, veteran literally fighting for transparency and what is right. She is not what America deserves, but she sure is what we needed. Unfortunately, Americans were asleep at the wheel while the rot in Washington festered and became gangrenous. By the time we awoke from our blissful slumber it was too late. Before even having a chance to become a great candidate, the DNC ran smear campaign after smear campaign against her. Our gangrenous left had purposefully silenced her because she would have truly shaped the future of an increasingly radical left for the better. I truly believe she was the only chance we had to return to some resemblance of American values that we enjoyed for so long. Instead, the DNC gave us Biden; a politician that, has a shoddy voting record and has been in politics since the year the term “Stockholm syndrome” was coined (ironic, eh).

Meanwhile, the right attempted to rally around their Trojan horse in President Trump; a president that, depending on your politics and how deep into the Facebook algorithm you are, is either the second coming of Jesus or the literal incarnation of evil. Ultimately the truth is in the middle. He governed much like any GOP president would with one exception, he is in the process of ending the forever wars and struck what is now 3 Middle East peace agreements that would have Israel recognized as a state by former enemies. While he brought some peace to the Middle East, his presidency, whether instigated by him or not, brought chaos to our streets.

President Trump was not the solution to our problems, he is that symptom you have when the doctor says “please, take a seat.” What happened on January 6th was another symptom of an ever-festering cancer within our institutions. What happened over the summer was a symptom of this same cancer. Our emotions, our attention, and our votes have been sold to the highest bidder in a disgusting lust for power and control. This is not a “black pill” moment, this is merely an observation.

You must realize that the “extremism” that has developed over the last decade is not entirely our fault, but we must take responsibility for it. Social media has allowed us to isolate ourselves from opinions and information that we do not like. It allows us, no, pigeon holes us into the downward spiral of only consuming things that we agree with, all in the name of keeping your attention just a little bit longer. It gives us a false sense of security all while making us more and more unsafe. While social media has done some good, I am of the opinion, mind you a well-informed opinion, that social media has done far more harm than good. Social media has been used to topple governments in the middle east and has been used to organize riots in our streets.

We must move political discourse out of the digital and into the physical. We have more information than ever before and yet are less informed as a result. Those kitchen table discussions we had long ago must return to our communities. Social media has sucked all empathy from our discourse; allowing for conversations to become between ‘others’. I encourage everyone to step away from social media and talk to that uncle you dread speaking with at Thanksgiving because he “too conservative” or “too liberal”. That is the only way we recover from decades of ignoring our political institutions.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z8mb66RssxA&t=35s ",
