"content": "Acquiring control of America's money system was Schiff's most important goal. <br /><br />He arrived in New York with instructions to buy into a banking house, springboard to acquire control of US money system. It had to be under absolute control.<br /><br />Kuhn and Lobe were German Jewish immigrants who came to the US in the 1840s and started careers as itinerant pack peddlers. They set up merchandising stores, Kuhn and Lobe, which serviced covered wagon settlers on their way west. Stores were in Lafayette, IN, Cincinnatti and St. Louis. It had to be under absolute control.\n\nKuhn and Lobe were German Jewish immigrants who came to the US in the 1840s and started careers as itinerant pack peddlers.
