If they violate that notion they have lost their justification for existing. <br /><br />This is especially apparent when it comes to the idea of individualism, in fact let me elaborate on that. <br /><br />From a larger point of view it’s Honestly not hard to see why this generation and you included would be neutral even avoidant to the value of individual rights/individualist notions as in western society that’s all that we’ve enjoyed and experienced (for the most part). John Adams wrote that “government is instituted for the common good.” <br /><br />Another thing that people frustrate me with is acknowledging some really great things about individualism yet they say it’s collectivism and make a virtue to pursue while pretending Collectivism achieves it when it’s the opposite. Which is “human rights”, and the basic components of Western Free Democracies in theory. Aka, what’s called “negative rights” the rights you own when you’re born and you don’t need to take any action in acquiring them. <br /><br />Individualism of course is a part of philosophical liberalism/libertarianism. The idea that every person is an autonomous individual deserving of dignity and respect equal to that of every other individual. Which entails the freedom to pursue the ends of his/her/their own design provided that this doesn’t abrogate the same freedom for others. Being social creatures doesn’t negate these things, like Karl Marx would otherwise argue against by saying that autonomy is an illusion and our identities were purely based upon socioeconomic statuses. Mussolini also agreed with Marx on this, though indirectly however not by class but by ethnicity or nationality. <br /><br />What is the “community”? Aren’t we all a part of many different communities? Towns, families, friend groups, sports, religions, region, country, etc. Communitarianism is the newer idea against the idea of individualist liberalism, and they claim the community is more important. This ideology, seems to elide between influencing and determining. We clearly still make choices about our values and actions despite the many influences of the “communities” we’re a part of. If we did everything ourselves, we’d get nothing done. This is why being part of a community is also important. Besides this being important, in the social living realm, the need for friendships, culture and entertainment, but we only get these because we’re individuals. The reason society has so much to offer is because we’re all different. If everyone was the same, would it really be that interesting of a place? Entertaining? Exciting? <br /><br />With all that being said and such however, my entire goal politically is to show there is way more than just a binary way of thinking. It appears a particular Islamist (I know this because he promotes and posts jihadist TikTok‘s of all things to the story on a daily basis)  would like to invite me to his roof party purely for not being heterosexual. <br /><br />Plus if I would ever visit a Muslim dominated country, I would also be instantly killed because of my Christian faith and an avid antagonist/critic to the Quran. Basically a hate crime to their “holy” book. Regular or average Muslims don’t really have an issue with me when it comes to that,  however when I’m doing and what I’m saying and what I believe would definitely sentenced me to death to a jihadists perspective.
