"content": "This completely blew my mind; Mean Girls was set in the fictional City of Northshore, IL with it's closest real-life counterpart being Northbrook, IL but it was actually filmed in Toronto<br /><br />What got me to look into it? <a class=\"u-url mention\" href=\"https://www.minds.com/th2tran\" target=\"_blank\">@th2tran</a> has brought to my attention that many Hollywood Movies were actually filmed in Canada or a Canadian Filming Facility<br /><br />I looked at both categories and then I focused on Movies that were filmed in Canada<br /><br />Then I filtered in Movies where the filming in Canada actually contradicts the Lore of the Movie<br /><br />This was the most prominent example<br /><br />I actually learned many things outside of this whole filming gaffe, apparently Illinois has several affluent Suburban-Strong Cities with the North Shore Cities of Evanston and Northbrook being the shining examples<br /><br />My knowledge of what Illinois was actually like came from watching Kenan & Kel which predominantly took place in Chicago and more often than not took place in other areas of Illinois<br /><br />It was definitely an eye-opener<br /><br />I can understand why Mean Girls took place in Evanston or Northbrook<br /><br />Think California Bay Area, that's what those Cities are like<br /><br />I say that Kenan & Kel took place in Illinois but like Mean Girls we were put in deception<br /><br />Kenan & Kel and it's spin-off Movies were actually filmed in Orlando, FL<br /><br />Almost the entirety of Kenan & Kel was shot in Universal Studios Orlando, FL inclusive of the outdoor scenes and scenes which took place outside Chicago<br /><br />I guess Illinois will remain a mystery for those who don't live in that particular State<br /><br />I mean you can watch the Chicago Bulls play but that's all the Illinois you're going to get",

"content": "I've been a fan of Mortal Kombat and a supposed Japanese Learner for decades and I've just now learned the Japanese Etymology of Kamidogu<br /><br />In hindsight much of this is due to the fact that it didn't even occur to me that Kamidogu is an accurate Japanese Term<br /><br />I guess I wasn't familiar enough with Japanese to make that assessment<br /><br />I learned the English Etymology and never made the cross-connection<br /><br />So Kamidogu contains three Particles<br /><br /><br />-> Kami | 神<br />Deity or Revered Spirit in Shinto or Shinto-Buddhism<br /><br />-> Dō | 道<br />Spiritual Pathway, a recurring Term in Zen and Shinto Buddhism<br /><br />-> Gu | 具<br />This is straightforward, Gu means Tools<br /><br /><br />So the real Etymology of Kamidogu is \"Tools to walk the pathway to the Gods\"",
