This means more up-sales and better client retention.<br />- You'll look cooler to potential new employees.<br />- Creating content forces you to sharpen your own understanding of the topics you discuss.<br />- It will increase the quality of leads you receive. Warmer leads make for easier sales.<br />- Having plenty of info for customers will help reduce customer support costs.<br />- Content created for marketing will be copied and used by your agents, sales team, etc. We see this effect, especially in education marketing. Education agents don't want to create 100-pages of content about your school, but they'll copy the content we create.<br /><br />Usually, none of the above benefits are reflected in marketing reports used in big businesses and big schools. Marketing teams are probably not even following the data because it affects other departments like HR, sales, and customer support. If you can say \"你好\" (hello) they might respond with \"your Chinese is so great.\"<br /><br />That can give foreigners a false sense of success.<br /><br />It's better for advanced Chinese speakers like myself to compare oneself to native Chinese speakers.<br /><br />I rate my Chinese level as \"just OK\" because compared to a native Chinese speaker from the mainland I read slower, sometimes choose incorrect words and have a Grade 10-level vocabulary.<br /><br />To continue to improve, I do these things:<br />- Read Chinese novels everyday.<br />- Speak Chinese at home and work sometimes.<br />- Use ANKI flashcards to memorize characters everyday.<br /><br />I don't expect to gain a perfect accent. That also doesn't seem important to me because accents are cool.<br /><br />I also don't expect to be able to out-write the professional writers on our marketing teams, because they're better than 99% of actual native Chinese speakers.<br /><br />However, in the videos I post on Chinese social/video platforms I can get more interaction than Chinese people talking about the same topics.
