"content": "Alongside a road there was a steep drop off and I thought there might be something cool beneath. So I carefully climbed down with my tripod and camera and spent some time in this grotto type rock formation blocking the. There was no decent light so it’s not an epic shot but it’s a good one I’m glad I took the time to make for the memories. I wanted to try a long exposure to smooth out the water which blew out the sky. So, I had to push the exposure a lot to recover the sky. The result is that it looks a tad fake. "content": "Spent the weekend up in Drake, CO after a very several weeks. Had very little time to plan and had every intention of shooting <a href=\"https://www.minds.com/search?f=top&t=all&q=landscapephotography\" title=\"#landscapephotography\" class=\"u-url hashtag\" target=\"_blank\">#landscapephotography</a> in Rocky Mountain National Park only to find out they're doing RSVP timed entries which sold out for the entire month in 8 minutes on July 1st. So, backup plan was to just drive up to some random spot in Roosevelt National Forest.<br />This is a rather large image consisting of four 50 megapixel images stitched. Shot at 6:15am with my Fujifilm GFX50r and GF23mm. Landscape photography is an extremely disciplined genre. It requires a lot of physical labor and effort and planning. Most of my landscapes that I love are all moments of opportunity and some regions and weather conditions lend itself more to that. But, in areas like <a href=\"https://www.minds.com/search?f=top&t=all&q=colorado\" title=\"#colorado\" class=\"u-url hashtag\" target=\"_blank\">#colorado</a> the reward is great, but so is the effort. Because of the steepness it means you can't both a sunrise and sunset in the same location unless you're above 10,000'. You will usually have a wall at your front or back or both. The skies are often clear meaning you don't get much color in the sky and your mid day light is super hard with extremely deep shadows. It means that some beautiful compositions may never have good light. I used my compass and skyfinder ap to plan this shot, but I had to drive 15 minutes from our camp site to get here so even though I did my planning I still didn't know exactly how the sun would reveal itself.
