"content": "11 years ago today, I fought alongside my extended family, also known as my fellow Marines, in a battle for our lives and our liberty. A lot has changed since then, our nation and our world. Yet the memories still haunt us. Every year around this time when the heat begins to irritate our skin, we get reminded of those days in Afghanistan. We not only fought for our freedom, but we earned our rights. Not just on that day, but that entire deployment!

11 years later, now we see a bunch of bratty children in the streets, throwing a tantrum, burning our flag, tearing down statues of our founding fathers because they think their life is terrible and that they are so oppressed, when they have never even been out of the country. You will find no other country on this planet that is more free and tolerant than the good ‘ol US of A. They dont know what their cost of freedom really is because they NEVER Earned it! Which thank God we have such a great country, where we dont have to earn it. But when you actually put on the uniform and really earn your bill of rights, it means so much more and we are so much more grateful for it.

Ungrateful fools will cry in the streets and act like their life is so terrible, yet they dont even have a clue how good they have it in this country. Morgan Freeman said it best several years ago, that he is proof that race has nothing to do with it anymore, he is living proof that race didnt hold him back.

These bratty children never picked up that gauntlet and went overseas in harms way. They never put on the uniform or even dared go to those terrible countries, yet they wanna cry bloody murder when things dont go their way and wanna blame the ever so popular scapegoat, racism. Sure it exists, but its no where near a big problem like it was in the 60s or earlier. If they hate the country that bad, they ought to leave. Try it out somewhere else if you think you are that oppressed. I bet most of them dont have the balls to do it, and if they do try it out, bet you’ll be back within a year. If not, then good for them.

I celebrate the day as all my brothers do, with the 11th annual sock beer out of honor and respect for each other and the ones that didnt make it back. Why the sock? We had no refrigerator over there or any way to keep our water cold. Most people take their refrigerators for granted. We’d put bottles of water in a sock, and wet the sock down and keep it wet for roughly 30 to 45 minutes, and it would cool the water down enough to where it felt and tasted like refrigerator water! It taught us that patience is bitter but her reward is sweet. Enjoy your freedom today, citizens. And please understand the cost of your freedom. Dont take your rights lightly and really appreciate what you have every single day. Because I and many of the Marines I served with know what the true cost is.

Picture is 2009, July 4 nearing the end of the day after hours of combat, dehydration and exhaustion.

“Posterity! you will never know how much it cost the present generation to preserve your freedom! I hope you will make a good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in Heaven that I ever took half the pains to preserve it.”

-John Adams",
