"content": "The view of Taal Lake and Taal Volcano from Tagaytay City, Philippines, is incredible. One of the few islands within an island, Volcano Island is surrounded by Taal Lake, one of the largest bodies of water on Luzon Island. The January 2020 eruption of Taal Volcano reminded me of my visit to the lake and hike there in April 2014. I marveled at the imagery of the explosion at a place where I had stood not so long ago. It reminded me of Earth’s fragility and often-volatile nature. <br />La vidpunkto de Taal-Lago kaj Taal-Vulkano de Tagaytay City, Filipinoj, estas nekredebla. "content": "World adventurers go by many names. Digital nomads. Expats. Jetsetters. Tourists. Those who venture overseas inevitably face the arduous task of securing funds in local currency upon arrival. Billions around the world use paper money and coinage as their primary source of funds. This incredibly inefficient medium of exchange defies an era of tremendous financial and technological advances. The culprit is a global monetary system that maintains and enforces regulatory barriers to disrupt the widespread adoption of standard, seamless fund transfers that it believes will challenge or undermine its arcane regimes. Ostensibly to ensure the secure, legitimate use of the fiat currencies they issue, these public institutions sacrifice efficiency in favor of sovereign control. Prevailing means of exchange during travel such as bank withdrawals or money changing pass on high fees and fiat converted at inflated rates. The existing system offers travelers little assurance they can safely and securely obtain their funds abroad without being robbed or scammed. A better alternative to the traveler’s forex dilemma is universal access to digital assets that can be easily and securely transferred in exchange for goods and services. Cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin (₿) or Ethereum (Ξ) may offer the best hope of a universal currency. Perhaps a digital asset yet to be created will give world adventurers the resource they need to trade value around the globe. Just as the world not-so-long-ago gave up gold- and silver-backed currency in favor of government-issued fiat, it is time to adopt a new global digital standard. It is time travelers choose one and turn banknotes and coins into artifacts to view on display during museum tours. On a gorgeous day in August 2013, the fiery rays of the late afternoon sun lit up this natural amphitheater, turning its eroded rock formations into glowing red and orange beacons. Breaking the dominance over which thoughts and expressions are considered acceptable requires reforming language to protect it from those who seek to monopolize it. In Esperanto lies the ability to preserve the integrity of consciousness and shield it from the excesses of the tyrannical mob.<br />Vortoj estas potenco. Kontrolo ne estas nur fizika. Ŝablonigante vortojn, oni posedas la kapablon determini la ideon mem de konceptoj. Rompi la superregadon, pri kiu pensoj kaj esprimoj estas akcepteblaj, postulas reformi lingvon por protekti ĝin kontraŭ tiuj, kiuj celas monopoligi ĝin.
