I stay home for work for a low grade fever and a scratchy throat. My employer required that I stay home and, although I don't fear covid, I don't want to bring anything to any of my kiddos. So I did the right thing and stayed home and disclosed my symptoms. Naturally, they tell me to get rapid testing done and suggest places to do them. The drivethrus refuse me based on symptoms and tell me to use the walking clinic. The walk-in clinic tells me that because I don't have insurance yet, I'm going to be paying about 200 for the visit + 300 for the covid lab. Ummmm. No thanks. So I'm calling around and keep getting the same answers on rapid testing. Finally one tells me I can go thru they're drive thru on Wednesday and that the test will be 300 bucks.. guys, I'm not that sick. I'd just like to freaking go back to work. Finally, got an appt at slaton clinic and they charge 40 bucks no appt for a test with 2-3 day turnaround. So, my kiddo has no nurse for a while and the people who ice cared for don't get to know whether this exposure happened or not for about a week, do they get to go around spreading it if they happened to get it from me. Tell me, if this is that freaking dangerous, why do i, as a HEALTHCARE WORKER, have to pay that amount for what is essentially a public safety issue. And why do my patients and their families have to suffer for my sore throat that , btw is almost gone already. Thats my rant.
